Please make a second TMNT series called IDW Kills the TMNT. Someone dies in every issue.

Hopefully this means that more people are getting into the series and will stick with it.

You're right. I should probably just omit that one all together.

should I sell or hold?

I'm still trying to decide whether or not to sell my #44 cover set on eBay or hold on to it to see if the value goes up. I'm torn because 45 comes out soon and I have a feeling Donatello will be back. I just don't know if that changes the value. I have cover a,b, ri, 2nd print, and I'll have two copies of the TRICON cover. I know people get kinda touchy about resale but any pointers? I have ever copy of the IDW tmnt as well as many others as part of my huge tmnt collection. Just trying to get some extra cash.

Nothing these days is going to hold any value. Ever since the 80's collectors have addopted a "keep it packaged/carded to preserve its value" mentality. The reason comics and cards of the golden era grew in high value was because collecting was just a fun hobby, not a potential investment. Now a days its reversed. People get into these things hoping to make a quick buck and not necessarily even enjoying the hobby. The thing is, sooo many people are thinking the same way, so in 20 years out of all the 25000 1st print copies of #44 that were produced, 17000 will be prestinely carded and safely tucked away and about another 2000 will be CGC slabbed. I highly doubt after 20 years if it will be worth any more than $30.

Yea I thought about getting them graded but I don't know that process to well or the cost. I've only ever got sports cards graded and certified. I have the set up for sale now so I guesill keep it listed. I think the whole "death of Donatello' is a big overreaction but ya never know. I guess the image comic where he " died" would have similar value but it doesn't. Oh well. Thanks for your input.

This. Chances are there's never going to be another super-valuable comic book ever again. Trying to make Action Comics #1 money off modern comics is like expecting to get rich off buying Microsoft stock at the current rates because the company exploded in value in the 80's. The chance already passed. Maybe once in a while there will be something relatively rare, like a first-print low-number indie book that gets popular later in the run, but nothing that's going to pay your mortgage or college tuition.

And Donatello is so not dead regardless. That's not even a spoiler, it's writing 101 and common sense.

I bought my tmnt comics digitally on ipad so the hardcopy comic book holds no value to me.

But I'm sure there's still many people like using books; I just like clean empty spaces on my shelf. No more worries about bending the pages, color deterioration, fear of spilling food/drink on the surface, etc.

I wish everyone would realize this. I think it would benefit the comic book culture as a whole to understand that these aren't "collectibles" meant to be preserved and resold rather than enjoyed; they're works of art that we're meant to appreciate. The art, the writing, the overall story. I'm a comic book reader; it doesn't make any sense to be a comic book collector anymore (for reasons beyond your own enjoyment)

Yeah ditch it now while there's still interest in it because here in the next few weeks when it's revealed he's still alive it'll hardly be worth cover price and all those people who spent well over what it's worth will realize that once again they were burned by the hype surrounding a "The Death of ______" book. But unlike DC and Marvel, people can't point their fingers at IDW because they never marketed it as such.

Like others have said "collecting" for value died a slow inevitable death throughout the 80's and into the early 90's due to massive print runs and a huge spike in public interest. If it's not something that touches you specifically as a person then it's not worth holding on to.

Thanks for the input guys. This issue really is an anomaly. But I'll make some quick cash off it and keep a couple copies. The way to make decent money seems to be complete or up to date runs. Currently on eBay is an up to date set of the current idw run going for 337 plus 25 shipping with 2 days left in bidding. It takes time to gain value however that is a decent amount. I have every issue of the current run and sometimes I want to go digital and get rid of my set but then I love having them. Oh well a good problem to have I guess. Thanks again for the input and discussion guys. I appreciate everyone not going off on me. Sometimes I buy to collect and sometimes I buy to make money and often times people just get mad and start yelling poacher and what not.

Sell now.

This issue is going to come back down to earth within a couple months. If you can unload it now to some idiot willing to dish out the cash then do it. Within a week of release I was seeing local classified adds in my area selling raw copies of cover B for $40. Ten times the cover value in less than 7 days is unheard of. Most educated comic readers are never going to shell out that kind of money...casuals who think this is an investment piece however

I'm worried this crap is going to carry over into #45... It's one of those months that I want all the variants.

Just preorder all the variant covers from your store. If I call them in advance, they'll hold whatever I want.
