The Federation and General Blanque, ignored by both IDW and Nick?

So both IDW and Nick have done loose adaptions of the "Turtles in Space" story. In the Mirage and 4kids version the war consisted of the Triceratons battling human looking Federation over the Fugitoid to build them a teleportal device.

In IDW they did the Krang Vs. Neutrino war with the Neutrinos essentially taking the place of the Federation/General Blanque and made Fugitoid into a Neutrino before he merged with the sal robot. The Triceratons in IDW also seem to have largely been created by the Utroms coming to prehistoric Earth.

In Nick the Triceratons want the black hole generator but there is no human Federation at all.

So are the human Federation and General Blanque who had roles in the 2k3 series in both Seasons 2 and 3, basically kicked out the door now? I always found it weird Mirage went with a generic human race to battle the Triceratons. I suppose the original cartoon created the Neutrinos for this reason to differentiate them.

There's a simple problem with the Federation that might be the reason why they're being ignored, they're seemingly human but they can't really be, they even have names like Fredericks and Johnson.

The Fugitoid wasn't originally going to have any connection to TMNT, the the implication seemed to be that it took place in the far future or some weird Star Wars-like reality where humanity seems to exist without earth. But then it was connected to TMNT and thus we're stuck with beings identical to humans who control a big part the galaxy but aren't humans. It just kind of weird.

I guess the Nickelodeon cartoon does imply the Federation does exist and Honeycutt looked pretty much the same as he did in the comic but it's pretty vague.

The Kraang pretty much assumed the role of the Federation in the Nick series. They were at war with each other and were scheming to destroy each other with a weapon of mass destruction such as the Heart of Darkness, which was exactly the same situation of The Federation vs The Triceratons in Mirage and 2k3.

However, in Beyond The Known Universe Fugitoid did imply that the Federation exist when he warned the rest that the space port on Planet Varanon is "not a part of the Federation" so they had to be careful. That alone didn't reveal if the Federation consist of human-looking communities, but if Honeycutt himself was human-looking before he became Fugitoid, it probably isn't a stretch to assume The Federation are, too.

I would assume that the Utroms fought and defeated the Federation; for the moment there are no D'Hoonibs to speak of, but I assume Traxus (as well as Traag and Granitor, formerly) was one, and was part of the Federation.

I agree with this, plus they were never too much a part of TMNT lore, meaning Laird MAY have kept Blanque and co. Plus there are loads of better more interesting aliens in the series like Neutrinos and Bellybomb.

It's for the better. They're boring in every sense.

Just because the Federation didn't have time to be used in the current season, doesn't mean they couldn't come into play in another season or a space centered Spin-off.

But I think the main problem with the Federation is a large Star Trek/Star Wars reference. The Federation is also the is the colloquial term used for the United Federation of Planets in Star Trek. And the way they are run is somewhat similar to the Empire in Star Wars. Both Star Wars and Star Trek are in things since they have recent and upcoming movies so Nick and IDW are more likely to get in trouble by having the Federation being officially included without a lot of liberties.
