Forget rare, how about some of the non-existent figures?

Ok, so we have talked about which figures are tough to find. Now which figures/items never made it to shelves? Has anyone ever seen any of these beyond the promo pics from Playmates?

1991
Turtle Tenderizer 4x4 (the Foot monster truck)
Turtle Shell backpack (a figure case that straps to your back)
Giant April (I heard that this got as far a the prototype stage)

1992
Sidewalk Surfer ( a repaint of a toxic crusader sailboard)
Retromutagen Rifle (a role playing rifle with attached ninja weapons)
Turtle Popcan Racer
TMNT Sewer Sports soccerball

1993
Muta-Party Wagon (a Turtlevan that transformed into a Metalhead-esque robot)
Giant Movie III Don and Mike

1994
*My personal Holy Grails* Warriors of the Forgotten Sewer Splinter and Knight Mike (these were protyped and Mike even made it onto cardbacks on later shipments into Canada)
Savage Leo with Sewer Warcat
Giant Cyber Sanurai (a 12" motorized item)
Hot Roddin' Ninjamobiles (Rat Fink style versions of the turtle van and Mutant Module)
Movie Sewer Subway Car ( a playset based on the subway car from the 2nd movie)

1995
Mini-Mutant Turtle Transports (the first five sets were common, but later sets such as the Tank and Muscle Cars are rare and there were 10 to 15 other sets planned including monster trucks and jet boats.)
Mini-Cyber Plane/Weapons Station
Team Ninja assortments (a strange cross between TMNT, Power Rangers and Superhuman Cyber Samurai)
Metal Mutant Rocksteady and Bebop (I don't even know if these made it out in Japan)
Metal Mutant War Horse (a vac-metal gold version of the Movie III Warhorse)
Jim Lee version Leonardo
Rahzar with fur
Special Sewer Forces (repaints of some of the military figures)
Warrior Bebop (metal yellow version of robotic Bebop. This one might have come out, but I've never seen one)

1998
Dr Quease
TMNT:tnm Shadow Ninja Deluxe figures

Man, I want that SO bad. That thing is awesome.

I remember there being a few Next Mutation figures that didn't make it. I'm not sure if they are the same ones that you listed. There were two Turtleflage figures with vehicles, Leo and Don with some sort of personal watercrafts, where the figure was fully painted in the same kind of camo-esque pattern that the vehicle was, with the gimmick being that the turtles couldn't be deciphered from their vehicles.

There were rumors about other figures, like another Dragon Lord that actually had the fully sculpted face rather than the mask that the costume was originaly going to have.

That Dr Quease figure was pretty decent, too bad it didn't see a release. And the Vam Mi figure was pretty hard to find.

Sayonara.

I cant help you out with much on the list, but I do have the Tank from the 1995 minis. I never thought that it was rare, since I've never been too serious of a tmnt toy collector, just a big fan. Heres a pic from the official site:

Sorry I can't post pics of mine, (no digital camera or server ), but I do have it, minus the radar on top of the tank (damn moving across the country a few years ago )

1991
Turtle Tenderizer 4x4 - I know I've seen this. Bebop is on the box. I know I have a photo somewhere.
Turtle Shell BackPack - There's at least a prototype of this item. You can see a kid wearing it in one of the Playmates toy catalogues.
Giant April - Never heard of a prototype, the Playmates catalogues I've seen only showed concept art.

1992
Sidewalk Surfer - Released a Mike's Sidewalk Surfer. I know I've seen this too. I have to find the photos.
Retromutagen Rifle - You can see it in the Playmated catalogue but I doubt it saw a release. I've never seen one.
Turtle Popcan Racer - Wasn't this a rumor? I've seen no mention of this in the catalogues.
TMNT Sewer Sports soccerball - never released

1993
Muta-Party Wagon - This was awesome, you can see it in full color in the catalogue. Too bad it wasn't released.
Giant Movie III Don and Mike - What was up with that? These should have been released, Playmates is wacky.

1994
Warriors of the Forgotten Sewer Splinter and Knight Mike - The painted protos are extremely nice.
Savage Leo with Sewer Warcat - I know someone who has a proto of Warcat. I want to find a way to get it.
Giant Cyber Samurai - Never heard of this. Where did you hear this?
Hot Roddin' Ninjamobiles - Never heard of this either.
Movie Sewer Subway Car - Nor this. Were these in a catalogue?

1995
Mini-Mutant Turtle Transports - There are several that are difficult to find.
Mini-Cyber Plane/Weapons Station - This was released
Team Ninja assortments - This seems unlikely. Where did this info come from?
Metal Mutant Rocksteady and Bebop - These never saw a release, I don't think they made proto either.
Metal Mutant War Horse - Never heard of this either.
Jim Lee version Leonardo - I don't think this was planned. They just decided to release another Dragon instead of Leo. I thought that was stupid. I liked Leo's red costume.
Rahzar with fur - Protos exist but was never released. This was a good idea too bad it didn't go anywhere.
Special Sewer Forces - Protos exist for these too. The catalogue shows photos. No release for these either.
Warrior Bebop - I think this did come out. I saw one in an eBay lot once, but the listing was cancelled. I remember the yellow chrome. I can't say 100% though, it was quite some time ago.

1998
Dr Quease - I'd love to find a proto of this.
TMNT: TNM Shadow Ninja Deluxe figures - I remember seeing concept art for these on the website. Damn, If I had only saved the photos... They looked very cool.

Also, one catalogue had the cutest assortment of disguised plush!!! The only Disguides plush I know was released was Santa Raph since I have it.

- Undercover Raph W/Trenchcoat
- Soldier Mike
- Karate Master Leo
- Farmer Don
- Surfer Mike
- Splinter
- Bebop
- Rocksteady

I'd give anything to aquire these, especially the Leo. They are the cutest things you've ever seen. *melts into puddle*

Anyone know if Tokka's Battle Fun Set was released? It looks more like a Slash costume, but they called it Tokka.

All of the items on the list came from the Playmates' catalogs for that year. Years ago I managed to collect each of the Toy Fair catalogs that are handed out via Ebay. They are really nice with great pics of all of the products.

(I still like the proto pics of the Turtlevan with a trap door on the front so the driver and bombs could be dumped out of the vehicle. I'm guess this idea got canned since whatever character was dumped out would be dropped right in front of the 'moving' vehicle. Perhapse the Turtles were worried about car jackers?)

I actually have pics of all the Turtleflage/Villians NM figures from a old issue of Toy Fare.

I'm pretty sure Quese was released since I swear I saw him at one store with Turtleflage Venus, but I only saw them once, still wish I had bought them

I am pretty sure the WOTFS figures were called Knight Leo and Spell Caster Splinter. These are by far my two favorite TMNT prototypes and hopefully will own them someday.

Maybe it was just a regular Robotic Bebop and because of the way the light hit the photo it made it look yellow.

I thought I saw a Yellow Warrior Bebop in a lot before but I asked the seller for upclose pics of it and it turned out to be the silver robotic version. The light can sometimes make the chrome look a different color.

Putrescent, you have to find this magazine.

Tokkas Battle Fun set was another dress up set. It includes a Black Mask attached to a plastic nose, elbow & knee pads, a black belt, hand attachments that look like Slash's claw things, and some throwing stars. I'll get a scan and post it later tonight.

Correction, it was Knight Mike. Here's a photo.

WOTFS Prototypes

TMNT4LIFE, it's possible I was mistaken but I believe there was a coin in the package. All of the chrome was yellow and the color was different in places. I can't say for sure since It was only a glance.

Well I guess we will never know. Somebody else on here should have seen one by now but I do agree that it was probably made and is going to be VERY tough to find.

I have seen Knight Mike on the back of some Canadian backings so maybe that one slipped out. Or just wishful thinking on my part.

TMNTGal-

Who owns this prototype? If you choose not to disclose the info i completely understand. I ony know of one guy who has lots of TMNT protos.

I've seen pics of alot of this stuff but some i have not. If anyone can provide some pics that would be awesome.

Forgot to mention that if anyone has Tomarts issues 94-95 they had a complete listing of virtually all vintage TMNT excluding variations. Also in issue 95 on page 51 they show a piece of concept art for the 13" April, Jim Lee Leo proto, concept art for the Turtle Popcan Racer, Sidewalk Surfer proto and concept art for Team Ninja Turtles.

I wish we had some proof those existed. If they did come out they would be by far the rarest TMNT and they'd be something I probably couldn't afford. If Scratch can sell for $250-$300 what would those 3 sell for.
