Survival Game seems to be missing its tones for some reason.

They're doing the original Tales frontpieces for Vol. 1, not the Treasury Edition.

Spinal Tapped randomly get put right before Vol. 2 #1. All the other backups go with their corresponding main story.

There is a pinup gallery.
The Survival Game is also missing its tones in The Ultimate Collection Vol. 6, IDW seems to be consistent with its lack of toning when it comes to reprints. I would not expect any improvements with other stories lacking tones in prior reprints.

I thought Spinal Tapped was somehow related to the other new material in the Tales Treasury Editions. I've read the Frontispieces and the Epilogue but not Spinal Tapped.

It ties in to Tales #7, but it pretty strongly contradicts “Masks”.

Bad news, folks. This volume won’t have #21 or #32. Presumably because of the Cowboys of Moo Mesa.

There is no way Ryan said no to that. They just don't want to pay him. It has to be the same with Cerebus. Leaving out these issues is ridiculous. Why even make an Omnibus?

Man, that's a bummer. I wonder if it's an issue with Nacelle?

I didn’t know this until now, but apparently there’s a new Moo Mesa cartoon coming out next year. You’d think they would be happy to put the characters out there in a premium hardcover TMNT reprint. But maybe they’re asking too much?

This is just an idea from my clueless brain, but perhaps they will just put all 4 Moo Mesa Tales issues in the same volume so they only have to pay them/share profits on one book instead of two? It would also align more with the reboots release. Holding out hope.

Is there any way to get into contact with the editors to ask them about this?

There’s [email protected] but I’ve never received a response or had anything printed in the past 2 years. I certainly miss the Bobby Curnow days.

Some IDW guys are active on social media, but I don’t know how much they have to do with reprints. You could try Gregg Katzman or Tommy Stella. I think Ryan Balkam had something to do with Journeys.

Sorry to be a hater, but like, has there been a single Mirage/Archie reprint collection from IDW that actually comprehensively collects what it's meant to without missing pages or entire issues or duo-tones or whatever?

I sat out on everything for the longest time as there were always deal-breaker omissions, IMO. I stopped checking up on new ones after a while.

I'm sure glad I have my floppies so that I have (most) everything one would ever need, but it's a pain to read them sometimes.

The current Archie compendium hardcover series ain’t bad. I think the only thing they’re going to skip is “TMNT meets Archie”, which is a throwaway crossover and easy enough to find the floppy.

They made a pretty boneheaded error with where they placed “Origin of the Species” and some of the scans are pretty rough. Otherwise I can’t complain. They’ve been pretty thorough. They even remembered the black & white Dooney mini comic, Murphy’s last hurrah from the 30th anniversary book, etc.

Let’s see what they do about The Prophet Muhammad…

Dude I know. It’s so nice to just pull a hardcover off my bookshelf and get reading.

Otherwise I have to go to our guest room, pull out the correct long box, hope my addled brain can remember where I put each series, thumb through to find what I’m looking for without getting distracted by something else. Then to top it all off, some of these old Mirage books are so rare and valuable that I don’t even want to touch them, especially with the youngster running around.

A lot of the old Mirage and Archie issues, the paper was degrading and turning yellow. Archie was printed on cheap paper to begin with and those issues were falling apart no matter how good I took care of them. Mirage was also rubbing off the ink on my hands, that was around the time I realized I should just sell them when we got better collections.
