Image questions- the tmnt mutilations

I'd like more info from people that read the books themselves since the sites have no summaries.

How did Leo lose his hand?

How did Don become a cyborg?

How did Raph get his face burnt or whatever happened to it, and how did he get to lead the Foot? Did the Foot become 'good' under his leadership and how did the other TMNT react to that?

Mikey had a gf?? A human girl or something else? How'd that work out, how long did it last??

How did Spilnter become a bat and how'd he ever turn back to normal, if ever?

well, id recommend you read the series

but anywho!

raph went to talk the foot for help. i believe he was training with them in his spare time. the foot at one point stole shadow for a mob group. turns out shadow's mommy had mob ties. ralph went back and asked for her return, but the foot said no, unless he killed the mob leader. anyways, blah blah blah, at one point the mob attacks the foot, and ralph finds a trap door with shredders armor. he dons the armor, and scares the living bejezus out of the mob guys. they never really became good, but after the city at war, they werent evil towards the turtles at least.

mikey had the hots for this...thing....with spikes on her. and she had a tail. they just kinda hung out when they were in the dragon's city.

splinter was injected with stuff as bad guy, and flew to some city and started making other bat creatures. the turtles and some other super hero eventually cornered him (he was quite insane at this point) and cured him.

The Image story started with the turtles’ 18th Birthday, where they were attacked by Cyborgs. They shot up Don, and kidnapped both he and Splinter with the help of Pimiko, a kunoichi (female ninja) who claims to be Shredder’s daughter.

The turtles kill one of the cyborgs, but the armor/cyborg attachments are still alive, driven by a near-sentient computer processor, which reacts when Raph tries to do further damage to the host body. It blows half his face off!

In the helicopter, Don awakens from his near-coma, and pushes a Cyborg out the door--- of a helicopter! The two of them fall, and Don hits the ground, shattering his shell, and paralyzing him. The cyborg’s host died too, and the computer leaped from the dead man to Donatello, making him a cyborg, and saving his life.

Splinter was kidnapped by the Warlord komodo (the Dragonlord). Komodo has a rare genetic defect that causes him to mutate into an actual komodo dragon. he hopes to use Splinter’s DNA to rectify the problem. He develops a synthetic mutagen which he then tests on Splinter just before the turtles arrive to rescue him. Splinter retreats into the caves around the castle, and is in contact with bats before he mutates... since the synthetic mutagen works like cartoon mutagen, Splinter turns into a bat.

The turtles return home, splinter having run out on them. That’s when the mob kidnaps Shadow, Gabrielle’s lover before Casey might have been the son of a mob boss, and now “grandpa” wants his little baby back. Mikey goes in and saves her, while Raph contacts the Foot to help. The Foot is attacked by the mob, and Raph finds a secret room, Saki’s personal training area, complete with a few variant Shredder suits. Donning the suit, he saves the remaining Foot soldiers, and then uses the Shredder’s guise to scare the mob away from Shadow. The Foot accepts Raph as their new leader.

Leo, Don, and Mike, meanwhile, run around te mage Universe (they visit with Savage Dragon in Chicago, Leo meets the Knight Watchman, etc), and fail to bring in Splinter. At one point, Raph has a run in with the bat-rat, and both are wounded. The Foot spiritual healer is called in, and after some astral-plane body switching, Don (free from the sentient cyborg computer’s interference), and Raph are restored, and Splinter is returned to Rat status.

The next story involves Leo and Casey in the sewers, fighting giant alligators that turn out to be King Komodo (a sentient lizard mutant, “brother” to Warlord Komodo), who bites off Leo’s hand. King Komodo’s lizard warriors are killed when Leatherhead comes to Leo’s rescue, and Casey turns them in for a reward (that the city later stiffs him on).

Heading back to Leatherhead’s home (the turtle’s original lair), they met Dr. X, a Utrom who was left behind when the Utroms left Earth, and a nearly complete Transmat device. The turtles help fix it up, only to beam a Triceraton to Earth! The rest of the Triceraton army homes in on the Transmat, and arrive to destroy the turtles! Raph brings the Foot, and the Triceraton attack is thwarted, but Leatherhead is beamed out into space, leaving Dr. X stranded with Splinter (they later play chess together). The Transmat is destroyed in the fight, however.

In the last minutes, Leatherhead lost any semblance of higher thinking, which was a foreshadow to a future story where the unstable nature of ooze would cure the deformities the turtles had undergone. This never happened, sadly.

In the last issue, Raph was displaced as the foot leader by Lady Shredder, who also ousted Pimiko from the clan, and revealed that Karai is no longer in charge of the Foot Clan in Japan. The turtles save Raph, and head home, with Pimiko as a new ally, to celebrate their 19th birthday.

So Raph leaves the team for the foot and the remaining 3 tmnt continue their adventures on their own.

Man, they sure had a hell of a crappy year between their 18th and 19th birthdays.... So the ooze would have eventually healed Raph and Leo regain his hand? How bout Don with all the metal junk attached to him?

What happened between Mikey and his um... spikey girly?

If I'm not mistaken, the readers tend to omit Volume 3, and probably many wish it hadn't existed [not everyone, just some ] Apparently it wasn't a very good story line blah blah blah so imagine the TMNT story goes from Volume 2 .. to Volume 4

I think they gave up on Volume 3 that's why it has so many loose ends... not sure really.

I thought volume 3 was ok, better than volume 2. it just had some flaws in it.

Correction: Image is *not* vol. 3

Just wanted to jump in for a minute, and point out that Laird has said repeatedly, that the "TMNT Adventures" series published by Archie is what *HE* considers to be Volume 3... NOT Eric Larsen's Image TMNT.

the TMNT's stint with image was primarily Kevin Eastman's doing, and also published the 4 part mini "bodycount" which for some reason, Mirage couldn't. (issue 1 was published under the title "Casey Jones: Raphael", but was never finished)... i can only speculate that Eastman may have licensed the turtles to get Bodycount of the ground.

While those books are interesting, and actually pretty cool... they have nothing to do with Vol. 1, 2 or the current 4.

Vol. 3 stands alone as it's own continuity regardless however.

Yeah I really wish that once Laird releases the official continuity list, that this site would be updated. It is a fantastic site.

Oh, and the Archie series is not a part of Mirage continuity. I'm not sure where you got that idea from Templar.

i didn't say it was. i said rather specifically that "vol. 3 stands alone as it's *own* continuity"...

Laird considers "adventures" not "image" to be volume three... but regardless, neither series has any impact on the TMNT continuity.

The Image series was SUPPOSED to be Volume 3 of the Mirage series, after Eastman and Laird decided to take a break from making the comic-book, they took complete leave of their senses and let that hack erik Larson continue it for them. But, when Laird started Volume 4 he decided (rather wisely, IMHO) to omit Image from the continuity. He probably also reassigned the "Volume 3" label to Archie's series if what you said is true, but the continuity so far is: Most, not all, of Vol #1, Vol #2, "tales" vol. #1 and #2, "Challenges" by Michael Dooney, Vol.#4, or, at least, that's my guess anyway.

We should write to Mirage.
