Is emulation Illegal?

Hey guys.
Got a question. I was wondering whether or not emulation was illegal if you own the game. I"d like a rom of GBA turtles and Genesis tournament fighters so I can rip the sprites. I own the games, and I've heard it's not illegalto have the roms if you own the games. Can anyone point in the direction of where to get a good one. Sorry if this is a lockable topic, I really don't know. thanks!

Sorry we aren't allowed to Talk about Roms here, because they are Illegal. Yes, even if you own the game, it's illiegal. The copyrights state you are not allowed to have ROMs even as a "Back up"
