20th anniversary?

Isn't this year the 20th anniversary for the TMNT? The original comic came out in like 1984 right? I know that when they released that old golden Leonardo statue/toy it said 5th anniversary and it was put out in 1992, so that was basically going off the cartoon's legnth, not the overall tmnt universe. So if this is the true anniversary and Peter Laird is trying for a more true to comic everything now a days, how come he hasn't stepped up and put out like a 20th anniversary comic or had playmates make special collectors action figures for this special year for the tmnt? Transformers did that special optimus prime, ghostbusters got a mini revival from neca, and tmnt got what? They haven't even mentioned it to my knowledge. I know they're making statues and stuff, but that started in 2002. Wouldn't it be cool if they made action figures based off the COVER to the first tmnt issue and called it a 20th anniversary special or they animated the original comic and put it on a direct to video dvd and made that the anniversary special or something?

Ghad if I say anniversary one more time my head will explode, just wanted to ask about htis and get everyone's opinion etc...

The first issue of TMNT was published in 1984, which makes this the 20th anniversary. Hopefully, they will do something to honor the turtles.

That's pretty cool. I was born in 1983, so the turtles were born about a year after I was.

God I am so glad that I grew up during Turtlemania in the late 80s early 90s. I cannot imagine what my childhood would've been like without the nina turtles. For me and a lot of my friends back then, they pretty much defined what "cool" was.

I miss those days. Hard to believe that it's been 20 damn years. At least the turtle fever has been reborn... although we will never experience a boom in their popularity of the degree from the turtlemania days again. Or at least I REALLY doubt it.

If there were no turtles, I'm sure I could have gotten by with G.I. Joe and The Centurions.

I might've gotten by with Thunder Cats, Transformers, or Ghostbusters, but I never liked any of those shows nearly as much as TMNT. TMNT is one of the definitive shows, not cartoons, but SHOWS, of the 80s/90s.

it would have been good if there was something special for the 20th anniversary, i have ideas like a different toy company could take on the toy line with a boxed set of comic accurate turtles, doesnt have to be superposeable but has to be accurate and have cool bases, this idea is much like transformers 20th ann. masterpiece convoy, and i think tmnt is worthy of the same treatment

Or My Little Pony, or Care Bears...

Actually... I'm not shamed to admit that I used to watch Care Bears quite often, and not really in a girly way, but I just always thought that those power beams they shot out of their tummies were cool. I still wish I had those tummy powers to this day.

Hmm.. I smell a new topic... Care Bears VS. TMNT.... ?

Okay okay!! ... quit looking at me like that guys!! Just kidding!!! Geez sorry!!!

I'm just wondering why you still like the show. That's all. Hey, I have no problems with it. Just curious.

Looking at it from a different person's perspective I can understand why they'd despise the Care Bears. First off, the name "Care Bears" makes it sound like a very girly show, and just hearing that name without even seeing the show can bring up some bad thoughts.

That's probably what I thought of it, too, back when I first saw it. But after actually watching the show, I got more into it for some reason. I mean, if you strip away the cuddly exteriors and the gentle, feminine environment, including the pink and white clouds, you have a bunch of bad ass bears who can shoot awesome powers out of their tummies to do cool tricks.

Hey... now who wouldn't want to shoot special powers out of their tummies? C'mon, Krow... you hear what I'm sayin?

I, for one, would LOVE to shoot powers out of my tummy. Damn, the chicks would dig that **** hardcore.
