Don't you just LOVE the winter season?

As many on this board know, this winter's weather has been devestating all across the US. The West was racked with rainstorms and snow, causing mudslides and flooding that took lives and destroyed homes. The midwest has had tornadoes and torrential rains, And the East Coast is getting buried alive under snow and below-freezing temperatures.

As for weather coming up for this weekend and the beginning of the new week...

Well, I'll be hoping that nobody loses power/heat. Up here, we're supposed to be getting 2 feet of snow, and winds of 35+ MPH (whiteouts imminent).

How's the weather where you are?

(and to our westcoast folk who got caught up in the flooding and ((hopefully not)) mudslides, I've been praying for you guys. Let us know how things go for you.)

It finally reached above zero after two days of blistering cold!

Now we got a blizzard.

Ya-hoo.

Weather here is freezing cold but dry. In the morning it is so cold, that you can't even breathe without that stinging pain in your lungs.

And what's with all that power outages in the US? How is that even possible?

All it takes is one fallen telephone pole, and thousands of people can be without power.

the cold is what's been really bad up here. its around freezing, but then the windchill kicks it in and drops it to 25 below...

Well today we got covered w/ a couple inches of snow which isn't bad but it was mixed w/ alot of freezing rain/sleet and the roads are covered in ice but i actually looked forward to this time a year. I hated that most of december was 70 degrees here. I just takes away from the Christmas feel IMO.

That's silly, why didn't they put the electric wiring underground then? I mean, we have underground and we don't even have subways. You could use these tunnels, couldn't you?

Last night after getting home from the ski trip, I went to go get my skis out of the back of the bus, without a coat or gloves on. My mom went looking for m y friend to give her a ride home, and then we got seperated. So basically, I was standing alone in 8-degree weather in a tee-shirt and jeans. I was literally crying from the cold. My fingers were blue when I got home.

We just got hit with a very good amount of snow. I think it's still snowing out as I type this (no windows...basement). Hopefully I won't have class on Monday, but we probably will. Jerks.

I wouldn't be saving when it comes to supplying people with electricity.

We just barely have enough money for all the sand/salt for the roads. Our town (village) is probly gonna shut completely down here. Already closes around 5pm every day.

Oh! I just got off the phone with my parents. My dad's a meatcutter at a Supermarket, and he said they had Crowd Control at the store all day for ALL the people that packed the place. People were fighting for carts and everything. It was Mad, I tell you, MAD!!

Sheesh, that must be bad. Hey, if it snows around here we just take the bus. That's safest. It doesn't matter if the bus has an accident or not because nothing is able to compete with about 50 tons of steel.

But usually streets aren't a problem, the main roads usually are clear. Sometimes they're frozen or have a little snow on them. But the sideroads are usually full of snow until all the main roads are clear.

The US really has to work on this. Is your town/city's roads in that grid-system. I guess that the wind can get pretty bad in these because there's nothing to stop it. Torontonians anywhere? I know you had hard winters during the last ten years.

Short of being as cold as a witch's titty, the winter has been pretty nice. Very little ice, no snow that lasts for more than a day, but the fog is blindingly thick. A few nights ago up near Trier, I was caught in fog so thick that I could barely see six feet in front of my car. What the crap!

yeah, we have fog too. I live next to a lake (the famous Bodensee). About 6am in the morning I am not able to see the ground from my window (2nd floor). I love that stuff. Well, probably not when I'm driving, but it's all so quiet when foggy.

Uhm....East coast buried alive under snow? I think the total accumulation has been like, maybe 2 feet....And its January....Last year by November we had 6 feet. It's snowed more today (And we've only gotten a few inches) than it has all winter.

My 2 favorite sounds....
1. The sound of snow crunching under foot.....
2. " leaves "

Cold weather is great. This is coming from someone who used to live in the hell hole of the USA is 110 degree heat index weather with no AC. I hate Summer. It's depressing, and mucky. Winter is quiet, peaceful, and soft sounding. Snow is beautiful. The only thing I like more is heavy rain, and lots of it. Yeah, I'm wierd.

Nice clear day with highs in the upper 70s, lows in the lower 40s. Even for Texas it's been an unusually warm winter.
