I think neither Sony nor Microsoft will show anything groundbreaking.

The only thing Microsoft is going to show is their new User Interface, which isn't really groundbreaking, but it'll be more than what Sony's showing.

I don't care, I'll buy all three consoles this time. It'll be wonderfull, except for the fact that I'll finally lose all my real life friends. Bleh, who needs them anyway.

Naturaly, I voted for Nintendo. Four words: The Legend of Zelda. That's honestly all they NEED to steal the show, but no... we're getting the full information on DS NoLine (which, IMHO, is going to pw0zor Xbox Live if only because it'll be free), and we'll finaly know wtf the big secret about the Revolution is. I'll bet they have some more stuff cooked up for us... and it's also another chance for Reggie to speak and lay the smack down. I could see him getting up on stage, and crushing a real PSP unit. Now that'd make me bust out laughing (and it's entirely possible...the dude can hold a DS from one side to the other in ONE hand >_> ). |

Microsoft pushed the boundries of online, Nintendo pushed the bounderies of the interfact and game design, Sony..........raised prices and made a big black Game Boy Advance with a larger screen and discs that shoot out when you twist it.
THe cell processor will get some hype in the electronic world (PC's and junk) and rightfully so, but HDTV's can only display so many lines. It won't do so much for gaming. We have gaming machines with all the power in the world, yet they're still displaying their images on basically 55 year old technology. Yeah, TV's are flat now, and their resolutions are nuts, but it's still just improved 55 year old technology. I say we need a new visual interface. Then those cell processor graphics would have room to expand.

You know, it really all comes down to the games. Xbox360 can be an amazing system, but if the only software they have to show for it is an updated Halo 2, I won't be impressed. Microsoft needs to get more games for their system and stop hiding behind Halo.
The Cell Processor is mighty fine... but even Sony's having tons of problems coding for it, and it's their technology. I can't imagine what the 3rd party studios are going through trying to get their code to run properly. It seems like a good idea, but when you have no regulation as to how many processors it can run at a time, and no idea where exactaly the code's going to be ran... it gets messy. Ai, correct me if I'm wrong... but I think that's how it'd work. And I'll even badmouth Nintendo. The Revolution can NOT appear weak, even in the slightest. Everyone's looking for a reason to dismiss the system already. Obviously it's going to be something groundshattering if Nintendo's kept it underwraps 100% so far. We're now days away from E3, and not a single solid bit of info as to what makes it so revolutionary has leaked. I'll say this though... this is pry the best hype job Nintendo's ever worked. Everyone in the online gaming community seems to be trying to figure out what the **** it is. And WHY is Nokia still trying to be a gaming company? They've now got 5 systems beating them... GBA, GBASP, WonderSwan Color, PSP and the DS. Hell, dosen't the Xbox sell more units in Japan then the Ngage sells world wide? Nokia, go away. Please. Coding for the Cell processor will indeed get messy. This is a couple processors in one, and I believe they all use the 64-bit system. There's going to be some retraining going on in the programming underworld, that's for damn sure. But you know, if they do eventually become accustomed to this new system, they can do plenty of things with it, not just for gaming, but for other things, as well.

From what I understand about the cell, is you can hook up tons of products with them to increase processing power. I can't even imagine coding for 2 processors right now, so I think I'd just curl up and die if someone wanted to hook 8 groups of them together. And unless they've found a way around bottlenecks, they can't get too much more preformance out of them...
I honestly think this could be a big mistake for Sony. Game development is already very expensive... but now programers have to relearn how to code for the PS3. Microsoft and Ninty are gonna make some good friends I have a feeling (hell, Revolution's using the same API as Gamecube, which'll make it easy to port engines over). It'll be interesting to see if they have anything other then rendered graphics to show off. PS3's going to be a powerhouse, that's for sure... but at what cost? |

At the cost of developers. This will not kill Sony, but it will level the playfield. That's for sure. Bad idea to put this in a console with rising prices.
I'd love to have one of those bad asses in my PC though. Funny, a Microsoft OS on a Sony CPU New Rumor floating around that Nintendo does indeed have 3-D projection technology, but it has nothing to do with Revolution directly. The rumor states that it is an add-on that will work for both Gamecube or Revolution, and will be releases BEFORE Revolution which would fall into line with a statement Yamauchi made a long time ago saying they had a Gamecube add-on for 2005. Remember last year they claimed they had a large scale Gameube add-on to show, but it never surfaced? Then there were claims that they did show it, but only to select press behind closed doors. The Technology reportedly operates on Rotating Lazer technology and creates real time 3-D images for people who want a new visual interface. It is NOT part of the hardware which will indeed have 2 analog sticks, a D-Pad, and all of Gamecube's buttons but in a more traditional setup with pressure sensitive grips and gyroscopic tilt sensors. It will be more powerful than Xbox360, but not the PS3. Makes sense. Mario 128 is reported to not be as Revolutionary as people think and is more meant to be an apology for Sunshine by making the most "Mariosque" Mario game they can make. We're talking Frog suits, Capes, Fire Flowers the works. All that good stuff we missed in Sunshine, and even Mario 64. In other words, FINALLY A TRUE MARIO GAME. There is another Mario title for Revolution that is in development as well but it will not be shown at all, but it will be announced. Waverace will be shown for Rev, and something from Namco and Capcom. I'll be damned if that dosen't sound good. DS online will be completely revealed and will go online shortly after unveiling and Pokemon XD will be shown for Gamecube as well as the new Kirby platformer (full 3D) AND Pokemon online for DS. Mario Kart is rumored to come out in the Summer, and "Another" has been confirmed for a US release this fall. It will NOT be the censored European version. It will be NOA's translated version and the gameplay and events will not be altered (the Euro version was censored and had the violence toned down). Baaaaad move. Anyways, it sounds to be the best damn gaming year ever. Also, Halo 2.5 sounded to me as a bad idea to be selling seperately a year later, BUT now they are planning to include it with the hard drive for FREE which I see as a very positive thing for fans. Now I think it's a good idea. Very good year. I hope tis is all confirmed at E3.

Halo 2.5 is great, as long as gamers don't have to buy it. Much like how I'd have been pissed if Nintendo released OoT:MQ as a seperate game. Bungie can't justify 2.5 as a seperate product when 2 keeps selling so damn well. Casual Gamer Joe picks up Halo 2, then 2.5 comes out a month later... angry customer who can stick to his outdated copy, or pick up a new and improved version for the same price he paied for 2. Not a good move, at all.
TMB: that would be the sane thing to do... that would keep Revs price point down, but allow tech nerds to have some uber crazy display option. Still, until we see stuff at E3, don't listen to a damned thing other then what's come out of Iwata's mouth. Backwards compatable, check. Just as powerful as the competition, check. 802.11b out of the box and free online play, check. E3's only 13ish days away now... less then 2 weeks. If anything's going to leak, and I mean seriously leak, we'll see it in the next couple days. Kudos to the developers that have kits and know what's going on for keeping their mouths shut. Maybe Nintendo's given up some hush money? lol |

You know, this really is the first time they've kept everything from being leaked whatsoever.
I can almost see Reggie writing his speech for this year. You mark my words, when I walk into that Media Conference, I am going to start a chant. One for Reggie and one for Shiggy. When you hear it start up, you can know who started it. I just gotta see Mario 128. I've been dying for a REAL Mario game since ........Mario 64. Where's the fu*king frog suit Ninty? Where's the damn fire flowers? Huh? You hear me Nintendo?!? Moblin slashing on horseback and Koopa Troopa stomping on two systems at the same E3. Oh hell yes.

I love a freaking frog suit, fire power, and cape. But I'd also love to see some big boot action and a raccon tail.

Let him bash, we should be the one's attacking him for thinking Tron 2.0 was going to be game of the year. Those two guys can't rate video games for the life of them.

I hope you are right about those Mario 128 rumors ThirdMarioBro. Sound really, sweet. I think Mario 64 was a true Mario game, but still not in the same level as World or SMB3. I'd really like to see them get back to basics with the series. Can't wait untill official information gets released.

Yeah, it's been so long. I want the old style feel with the new physcis. I know for a fact that Miyamoto said they ditched the Sunshine engine and made a new one from scratch for Mario 128 so I'm hyped. No more pastel colored hills. Classic Mario here we come
