Weird question: Why did Mike stop using his nunchucks?

It made no sense to me as a kid. Does anybody know why? I know it's a weird question.

Actually, some Parents Watchdog Group swooped down on the show like the wrath of God and made everyone involved tone the show down a bit. They took away Michaelangelo's nunchukus because they were too violent. And not only were the Turtles toned down, but the bad guys were toned down, too. Everything became "kid friendly."

Personally, I liked the "kid friendly" aspect of the cartoon, but I didn't like the fact that Michaelangelo had his nunchukus taken away.

to take away Mikey's chuckers is like taking his lifeblood. the turtles were built on the greatness of the stealth warriors known as ninjas; censors are the most evil of people!

I know, I know. It doesn't make any sense to take away Michaelangelo's nunchukus and let Leonardo and Raphael have their weapons. I would think that things like katana blades and sais would be more dangerous than nunchukus, but I guess parents didn't see it that way.

It seems like everything that gets popular is scrutinized beyond belief, and I hate that beyond belief. Just leave the shows alone. You take away a part of what they are when you tinker with them.

Looks like Donatello was the only person whose weopen didn't get any complaints over. Of coarse in hindsight. the bo staff always seemed to be a rather unstable item.

Well, what was weird before he stopped using them all together is they would constantly show Michelangelo in a battle stance swinging his chucks and then show him attacking with a grappling hook. The last episode you see Mikey really using his chucks for attacking is one of the European Vacation eps (I can't recall which.) But the death of Mikey using his chucks started officially in the 1992 season even though they show him using em sometimes in the European vacation eps.

There he goes again...

Speaking of the Euro vacation eps, it seems a little odd to me that they don't air until after the season that the technodrome became free from Dimension X the second time...plus they start out with the original intro...

I can remember other episodes, too, where they'd show Michaelangelo's chucks tucked in the belt behind his shell, but they were never used. He'd always whip out his grappling hook. An episode I'm thinking of as an example would be "What's Michaelangelo Good For?"

What was also unique about the European vacation episodes was the ending theme... it showed the half the screen with the credits on a black screen and the tmnt intro on the other half.
