Oh and get this we're getting a line very similar to Dc Universe Classics or even Masters of the Universe Classics.
They are basing them off the old toon for now but I asked if it did well could they pull from other things (Archie) and they said yes.
This guy's one supper impressed fan right now and I just can't wait till you see everything.
Am I reading this right? Are we getting 2 lines? One for the 2012 show and one "Classics" line? If so which wave one is the TMNT followed by Shredder and Splinter?

Also, how many figures were actually shown (and from which line)? From Vaughn's post I got the impression it was just the OT Turtles (maybe Shredder and Splinter), but others have mentioned action features which makes me think variants were shown as well.

I'd love to see something at SDCC but next February's Toy Fair is probably the first time we'll see anything. Where were they shown anyway, I honestly didn't expect to hear anything about the toys over a year before the show comes out!

If they can pull from other things then I really hope they do Mirage, Archie, 2K3, Next Mutation and Image figures (would love Shredder Raph, Cyborg Don, Pimiko and Lady Shredder). This has the potential to be the best line of figures EVER!!!

Oh, one last question which I don't think I've seen asked! What's the scale?

Sorry for all the questions, this is fantastic news and thank you so much for sharing as many details as you can!

Great news, this toyline definitely has potential, we'll see if the Thundercats classic is able to perform well and the turtles are much bigger than TC. And while TMNT is much bigger than He-Man, that franchise might have the bigger collecting fandom, not to mention they are older in their 30s compared to turtle fans in their 20s. But yeah very excited, especially since the OT never got show accurate turtles, well the Toon turtles got the closest.

As far as the Archie stuff well for the most part its the same as the OT, I mean only important characters not in the OT were Armaggon and Ninjara. Most other stuff was from the toyline itself, which makes it much easier for them to choose for a future wave "oh kids will remember this toy" rather than "he appeared in the archie comic". As much as I want an OT turtles toys, I'd kill for an updated version of the original toyline MOTU Classics stlye, as a kid THAT was the TMNT to me, and how I grew to love the turtles, not so much the cartoon. Thats my wishlist for a classics line, either way can't wait to see.

As for scale, normally I prefer smaller scales, however TMNT is one of the franchises I hold dearest to my heart and I'd easily buy whatever scale they come out to be. Unlike say Thundercats which I enjoyed but no way am I buying a huge 8" classic figure, it takes way too much space for a franchise I'm not that crazy about.

Well... do the "classic" figures really look accurate to their look in the old show? I mean, do they have the goofy smiles, not showing teeth? Is Raphael smiling or angry? To they have the belt initials? Are all four turtles green, or do they have different skin colors?

Are you guys able to comment on this?

THIS IS KILLING ME

It sounds like a dream come true. A fully articualted, 6" action figure of 1980s toon Shredder?! I look forward to it.

While I did mention the Archie series to everyone involved a number of time we are not promised anything right now besides a collectors line based on the 80's cartoon.
It's all in the very early stages and all we are aware of right now are the 4 turtles.

I'd like to think it will, soon we all may be saying "Neca who?"
I'm interested in seeing figures beyond the TMNT themselves but one step at a time. This shows me that the turtles are finally being taking in a positive direction.

So we are tentatively confirmed that Splinter and Shredder will be in the new line, eh, Vaughn? It's no surprise, of course, but it is something for fans to hang their hats on.
I was told what I could talk about and what we're not allowed to.
Well, one would assume that the basic cast of the TMNT universes will always be around
(Btw Splinter & Shredder are for the new show not the old toon line.)
It's all about the turtles for now and they look great.
The new turtles seem to be a bit smaller than 6 inch to me, can any other fans that made the event give their opinion on this?

I sold most of my collection as of late because the old figures aren't in the style I like now (DCUC / MOTC).
This new line though and the TMNT Classics (which is something I'm calling it not official) are up to par with todays toys.
About exclusive things, Playmates isn't on it yet but I'm sure as things progress we can expect some exclusives via diamond comics distributor or even things like San Diego Comicon.

I'm not saying this is a for sure thing but Nickelodeon did say they would be @ San Diego Comicon, so perhaps the public will get to see this amazing stuff then.

I'd like to state again that for now the classics collector line will be based on the 80's cartoon characters.
They just have the rights to pull from other things now that Nickelodeon owns all of it.
Now while some of those figures are indeed huge fan favorites, I can't say I would think things like Grandmother Fox will ever make it to toy form.
So while you should be excited, I wouldn't get that excited just yet.

Not only is that great news for fans but it could lead to things expanding.
Not to mention a very smart move on the part of Playmates.

There are some things they plan to work on but as of right now it's very damn close. I'm picky and like things to be 99% to 100% accurate.

Well with a big company backing them now they can do the things they've been wanting to do.
It really seems from what I've seen and who I've met that they've got it together.

As for Playmates getting their stuff together, I'm guessing that working with a larger company that has more to safely invest in the overall presentation has something to do with the figures being better than this last generation.
It also helps that they have people that care now and not someone who really wated to be away from the TMNT some time ago.

From what I know, the answer to that is no for now anyway.
With us not being far in the future from Neca's turtles they don't want to release something that wont sell.
But I say show them how bad you want a TMNT universe line by buying up the old toon collectors figures. Sales prove points.

I said the same thing about year ago, in fact I went into the event thinking this also.
I'm very impressed, people who sculpted on the old toy line are back!
These collectors line and new show figures are a step above anything I've seen this company do in a very long time.

Right, the fans are in for such huge cool surprises.

You really should, Nick means business here. They want this to be popular, bring a new generation of fans and while making those of us who grow up with turtles happy as well.
They aim to please, and I really think they will (even if they don't please everyone.)

Sorry for all the questions, this is fantastic news and thank you so much for sharing as many details as you can!
We are getting 3 lines.
1 Collectors line with amazing sculpts and super articulation.
1 new show line with amazing detail and articulation.
& while it's not until 2013 we will get a movie line as well based on the new live action film.
The New show will have the 4 turtles first and other characters to follow (Shredder & Splinter).
All we are aware of regarding an old toon collectors line right now is the 4 turtles.
You may just be surprised and they may just show us stuff at comicon.
I'll be honest with ya, I didn't expect to see more than designs.
I agree if they do this line correctly, it could be huge!
The only suggestion I'd make to them is to include an issue of the comic that the figure is in. It would bring awareness to the old comics and help explain why there is a toy of the character.
The scale is 6 inch like most toy lines.

I think a certain toy company should make me their representative to post information to fans and keep them updated on things in development. What do you guys say?

We've only been shown Raphael.
He's green.
Yes on the belt.
I think he had a snarl, but can't remember.
Don't let it kill ya! You'll miss out on all the future fun!

No word on old toon Shredder but I'd like to assume as much as everyone else that we will get him and an old toon splinter and april after the 4 turtles.
What I'm praying for is we finally get a pot belly Rocksteady after all these years!

I like to see figures of the Mighty Mutanimals based off of the more cartoony art of Mike Kazaleh and Ken Mitchroney.

And some Mirage figures, especially Renet, Radical and Complete Carnage.

Were the prototypes that were seen at the Nick even double-scale like the NECA Shredder we never got or were they to scale with what would be on the shelves?

I posted this on the Pizza Boxes thread, but I think it belongs here, so if anyone can answer:

I don't really like speculating too much, but I find the 2D art concept to be pretty different than the 3D image and video we've seen.

Since Playmates is already making prototypes of the toys, do they look more like the 2D or more like the 3D?

Is anyone here with influence over Playmates Toys able to offer the suggestion of play sets for the new action figures? I would like to have a Shredder and Foot Ninja themed play set to put my figures in and/or a new sewer lair for my turtles.
