Lookin' good so far, Adam. Just one question: Why the color difference between the piping of Splinter's kimono on the "cover" and in the interior art?

Artistic preference! Powder decided to give him a royal purple robe with vivid white trim. I think it really helps the image "pop" off the cover. For the comic, I decided a more low-key black trim would suit the comic better, though I did keep the purple robe since it looks way cooler than the pinkish tint he wore in the cartoon show.

You'll notice that we also decided to color his tail differently (in the show I think it was just plain brown).

Thanks again, and I'm glad somebody noticed the rat! That little rodent had a cameo on the original piece, and Powder's color job really brought him to life and endeared him to me. Thus, I knew I had to bring the little nipper back for the comic. You'll probably be happy to know that it'll be showing up one more time in this issue.

I had so much fun drawing Page 5! At the end of the day, it may be my personal favorite, with the exception of the kitchen table cloth (checkerboard patterns = evil to draw). It proved to be one of the most difficult to color due to all the little details and characters.

Looks really good so far. That table cloth reminds me of the original red power ranger.

Now that you mention it...I prefer the gray tail. It's certainly more 'ratty"...

Believe it or not, I"m working on a TMNT-Power Rangers amalgamation piece and I realized I hate drawing & coloring those Ranger outfits just as much as I hated doing the tablecloth! The geometric patterns always have to be so exact to look right and the coloring is a chore too!

Be honest, who didn't see this "big reveal" coming?

I'll admit, I was so struck by the visual look of these Brendan McCarthy pieces of fourth live-action movie concept art, that I just had to work it into my comic!

Hey Winters: Who's the turtle? Is that Don? These images of a scrapped movie idea doesn't help.

In my original vision, I planned to make it a specific turtle. But after more thought, I realized it would be far more interesting to leave the identity ambiguous, thus leaving the viewer (and Splinter for that matter!) to draw their own conclusions. The grey mask and generic green skin tone were my attempts to avoid any obvious association with the established mutant turtles.

I will go on record as saying, "it ain't Kirby" (a new character created by Eastman/Laird and planned for the fourth movie).

I just had to find a way to work the classic Shredder into my story!

Look for the conclusion sometime next week.
