Why the hell would you think it would be like Next Mutation?

Everything they're revealed so far sounds promising. Even the idea of teen April isn't so bad now that we've gotten used to it. The show sounds like it has the potential to be very good.

The Next Mutation was very crappy. The only good thing was the toy line. Except the splinter cause of his weird arms. For Nick we already know the toys will be good and judging by all the work and what Chris said about what happened at London MCM the show will be very well made. I am changing my view on this. And on mutanimals. I just bought a Rocksteady, Mondo Gecko, Genghis Frog, and a Muckman. Muckman is a very fun toy.

I'm right there with you. I hope I'm pleasantly surprised but, so far, with all that I've seen and heard, I'm already disappointed.

What are you disappointed by, I'm curious. By biggest worry is just how the animation will look like during the fight scenes, but others who have seen it said it looks smooth.

I may be wrong but I don't think this will come close to the 4kids series. And if it doesn't do well I'm hoping that doesn't affect the idw comic.

Why would it effect the IDW comic? They're too separate entities.

And the show could be just as good or better than the 4kids series, we don't know.

I found this new interview with Kevin Eastman and Rich Magallanes, Senior VP for Nickelodeon, about the 2k12 series:

I don't see why people think the show will be bad though. At the worst it'll probably be a decently entertaining kids cartoon.

Yeah exactly. Any small bit of info comes out and SOMEBODY is going to blow it up to be the death of the show. Like the three toes thing.

As for that new interview link, gah, I was hoping it'd be text-based as that's much easier. I now wait for the vid to load on my crappy internet.

Watched that video too. Not getting the doom and gloom from some people. It sounds fun.

I enjoyed that interview, as it was nicely thought and written out. I enjoyed how Kevin and Rich stated that the stuff is created to "have a good time" and not simply due to "money". Another good point was explaining why the "aliens" issue is not such a big deal given its appearance in Volume 1. We shouldn't worry about animation; those 20-block layouts will really be eyecatching when done. However, Kevin goofed up on the Channel number for the first movie, "Channel 13 News"!

True, but a lot of things can make or break a series. When it comes to the TMNT, I don't feel Rocksteady and Bebob are essential characters that need to be in every incarnation.

It could always be worse. I would imagine a delay would be more tolerable than not getting the show and toys at all.

Don't worry about it. It's comforting enough to know that the voices work for the characters. I'm really looking forward to Paulsen's return to voicing one of the turtles. Even if it isn't the same one.

It's good to know that the fans over in the UK won't have to wait till January to start watching the show legally. Would be cool if stores over there were able to get the toys out earlier, but if they're anything like retailers here in the US, I don't see that happening.

The 4Kids series doesnt even come close to Batman: TAS. It didnt make a f*cking dent in the mainstream.

It was pretty successful. Lots of toys and video games, a lot of unique characters, pretty faithful to the mirage comic compared to a lot of others. I loved it. Almost all the kids I was friends with back then watched it right up to the fast forward season then stopped. Batman: TAS isn't really fair to compare it to, Batman is freakin Batman. He's gonna be successful.

I really enjoyed it aswell. I grew up watching the 80s show, but I think the 4kids was lot more whole some and cut all the silly stuff from the 80s. They did just literally animate the comics with some eps, but that was cool.

I actually really loved the fast forward and BTTS seasons, they were like a mature version of the 80s cartoon, and I loved the animation style.

As an older fan, if I had to sit and watch the 80s or 03 show, I would pick the 03 everytime.

Those games and toys quickly dried up. It wasnt as succesful as you claim, it's faded into reletive obscurity in a very quick amount of time, with no reruns and rare-to-find DVD releases. Compare that to the more succesful 80s show, which is out completly on DVD and gets reran on Teletoon Retro. There's more of a market for that than the 4Kids show.

And your friends don't make up the mainstream, which will always gloss over the 4Kids show and talk about the 80s show more.

Nobody cares how "faithful" it was to the comics (which is a stretch) since the comics are niche.

As for "unique" characters...I don't know what you're talking about. Agent Bishop was your average Agent Smith/Vandal Savage knock-off, Baxter was a generic "mad scientist cyborg", Leatherhead was The Lizard, Shredder was a more badass Krang, Hun was a generic mob boss, what was unique about any of these characters?

Do you even know what the word "wholesome" means? The 4Kids cartoon was anything but that. As for "cutting out all the silly stuff"...were you blind to how obnoxiously cheesy some of the plots and characters got even in the pre-FF days?

I'm an older fan and I will always pick the 80s show, which is more original, doesnt take it's premise too seriously, and is altogther always going to be more fun and memorable. The 4Kids cartoon is niche and will remain that way.

So original that it had to reuse plots frequently.
