Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures Volume 1 (7-24-12 release)

Just saw a posting for this collection on Amazon + B & N, I couldn't find much info other than this: "classic animated TMNT action is collected here in this re-presentation of two fan-favorite cartoon adaptations! In both "The Return of Shredder Parts 1-2" and "The Incredible Shrinking Turtles Parts 1-2" read along as Shredder comes back to Earth from Dimension X and attempts to exact his revenge upon the hard-backed heroes. "

See links below to purchase this book.

I hope that cover isn't final. Yikes.

I'll get it sometime after Volume 2 comes out... possibly several years after.

I don't see what's bland as lots of books were much more simple in design back then, but I even feel that its a bit too generic. At least put something like "based on the hit cartoon" or "new edition" to spice things up a little. I wish they could re-release the last 10 issues or so as they are the hardest to find and I'm missing most of those, though that would happen around 2018 that must follow a bunch of unlikely circumstances.

There will be a brand new cover, that's a placeholder in the link. I'm working off of memory, so I MIGHT be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's by Steve Lavigne with Jim Lawson inks.

Vol. 2 is also listed on Amazon, and sadly it is described as just being 4 issues, as well. I really want to support Archie reprints, but the likelihood of the entire series getting finished at this rate seems quite slim.

I wish they would just release them in 10 issues at a time

How long is a typical Archie arc? That's the way to go.

They varied and there were sometimes arcs-within-arcs (like the World Tour arc had 3-parters and 2-parters inside it as well as one-shot adventures).

But just for starters, you could probably divide the arcs up into more trade-friendly chunks along the lines of...

Episode Adaptations: Miniseries #1-3, TMNTA #1-4 (7 issues)

Cherubae and the Final Conflict: TMNTA #5-13 (9 issues)

Birth of the Mighty Mutanimals: TMNTA #14-19, Mighty Mutanimals miniseries #1-3 (9 issues)

Return of the Shredder/Slash Trilogy/Those Two Random One Shot Adventures: TMNTA #20-27 (8 issues)

And so on and so forth. And that's not including supplementary stories that could be added to each volume where they fit into the timeline ("Origin of the Species" and "The Night of Monsterex" for the Episode Adaptation volume, "A Forgotten TMNT Adventure", "Yo Ho Ho and the Bottle of Mutagen" and "Doomsday Hassle at Banshee Castle" for the Cherubae volume, "Green Legs and Gams" and "Red Sails in the Sunset" for the Mighty Mutanimals volume, and so on).

You could easily get some healthy-sized trade paperbacks that contain full, focused storyarcs out of this series.

Of course, this is all a little late and pointless to fret about since IDW's already doin' what they're doin'. I'm just sayin'...

All those in favor of IDW hiring the Doc to compile their TMNT Adventures collections, say "AYE!"

Woo-hoo, candidate for exclusive bonus content right here!

Hey, Archie's Sonic Magazines have slowly unveiling a complete timeline as they go along; who says republished TMNTA can't do something similar?

Good to know! I look forward to seeing it. Ironically, I think that vintage placeholder image was also designed by Lavigne (with Ryan Brown).

Well, damn. I can see myself wanting to have the entire Archie run one day, but unfortunately these books are coming out concurrently with, and several priorities below, a few $50 and $30 Mirage collections.

There's no point for Archie trades if they're going to come out too few with too few issues.

We probably won't make it past issue 25 at this point. Maybe they'll stop there as that's when the Shredder/Krang/Slash arc ends.
