I'm sorry to do say but I would have done the same as Raph.

Come on, HE was humiliated just 2 seconds before by Donnie (who has the reputation of being weak) in front of his master and brothers.

I don't imagine Raph letting Donnie win just so he can show off in front of April.

Raph hates losing. If he does, his brothers would make fun of him the same way (especially Mikey) or Don would say "see, April? I beat Raph easily".
