Look at the Legend of Korra for example. While Avatar did a great job with unique and well developed female characters, I always felt that Korra relied on overused tv tropes. Korra is supposedly a "strong" character (because a girl can't lead a show without acting like a dude, right?), but in reality she's overly emotional, irrational, and boy obsessed. Lin is a spinster, and Asami is the token pretty girl that's so submissive she lacks a personality. Once her role as love interest ended, the writers didn't know what to do with her. And we all know that TMNT has stuck with the overused good girl/bad girl dichotomy where the good girl is a love interest and personality-less and the bad girl is totally irrational.
I'm not saying these are bad shows. TMNT and the Legend of Korra are by far the best shows on Nickelodeon right now. But still. A well written female character would be nice.

legend of korra is NOT the best show......I want female characters...but I also want them to be done right.
TMNT isn't really helping me like April.....so I'm left with Karai and hopefully Irma (whenever she shows up)
maybe that's why I want more girls in TMNT......I just want ONE girl I can really like. (that's not evil )
