I've had geckos and having one drop their tail on me was my worst fear. Luckily it never happened. Geckos typically drop their tails in a life or death situation. It serves as a chunky, wiggly decoy for their predators to pounce on instead of them.
Edit: Oh, and I looked at pix of the Mediterranean gecko and their tails are quite thin. Mondo probably comes from the Eublepharidae family. Those have the chunky tails and movable eyelids. |
