Renaissance Artists

I have a British Literature class and the we are studying the Renaissance right now. The topic of Ninja Turtles was brought up when a warm-up included "The best Renaissance artists were: Raphael, Michealangelo, and Leonardo Da Vince." Someone said (not I, surprisingly), "What about Donatello?" The class sort of laughed and the teacher said, "Even if this list included four artists, Donatello would not have been my next pick." She said that some other artist was better and had achieved more fame. His name was like Bonachelli or something (this could be way off because I don't remember). Anyway, don't you think it's odd that Donatello got chosen to be a name, when there were other artists at the time who were better?
