Raphs injuries/recovery in TMNT1

Did it ever bother anyone else that even though Raph was really brutally attacked in the first movie, he shed no blood? Even when I was seven and I saw it for the first time I was like "oh come on!". I guess they had to keep the movie entirely free of actual bloodshed because of the kiddies but hell, it was rated PG, so would it have really hurt them to just show a little to make it a bit more realistic? Those damn censor-crazy parents always have to ruin everything, huh? And, speaking of injuries, surely Raph should've had some severe internal bleeding or something? They beat him up so badly its amazing he survived at all.

And another thing, this is probably a really stupid question but please, humour me.

When Raph was at the farmhouse recovering, why the heck did they stick him in the bathtub? I've never gotten that at all, anyone out there who can explain?
