TMNT series question

ok, we all know of the classic tmnt, and the new tmnt.

i was recently cleaning out the hallway closet and i came across a old vhs with a tmnt recording on it, being me, i naturtally sat down and watched it. but i was surprised as it came on, because it wasnt like the usual oldschool cartoon...after watching it i remembered about it, and well, heres what i know

the beginning had a new themesong, sounded like it was trying to be "cooler" if you will, and showed clips from the movie (i believe the first movie.) Also, another, and the most notable difference, was the drawing of the turtles, they tried to make them look less archie-ish, it was almost like a combination of the oldschool toon and the new show, most noticable was there eyes, you could see green around the white area instead of the eyes being built into there bandana.

the shows writing seemed to be a bit better, the story seemed to match up and the scene transition was a bit smoother.

also, the cartoon i saw was titled "state of shock" and the star villan was a man named "Megavolt"

from the commercials and what not i saw that it aired on ABC
anyone remember this? got any info on it?

id like any info, from how many episodes to how popular this was

im curious what happened here, why they changed the look, was it a last attempt to catch the spotlight or what? from waht i can remember this showed up around the end of the TMNT era
