Question for 2k3 and old toon fans

Okay with the release of the movie I began to get back into the turtle universe and now I think I am a fan for life. When the new cartoon came out a few years ago I never watched it mainly because I just always prefered the cartoon I grew up with in the 80's and 90's. I've only seen the first two episodes of season one, but it looks like it has potential. I know the new toon is supposed to be a lot more like the comics. So for fans of the old toon who watch the new series, was it easy to get into the series after awhile? As a fan of the old sereis, will I like the new one? Your help will mean a lot!
