Classic Ep Talk: Blast From the Past
Blast From the Past from season 3 of the 1987 series.
In this episode, Shredder takes Bebop and Rocksteady to a museum so he can awake the ghost of Shibano-Sama, the founder of the Foot Clan and make Bebop and Rocksteady into Ninjas. The Turtles and Splinter try to get there first but they arrive too late and Shredder throws a smoke bomb at them. When the Turtles try to tell Shibano-Sama that Splinter is the real leader of the Foot Clan and not the Shredder they realize that Splinter has lost his memory so Leo, Mike and Don take him back to the Lair while Raph stays there stalling them with no avail. At the Lair, the others help Splinter gettign his memory back in a form of a flashback making this episode a clip show, everyone hates clip shows, right? But this one is worth it, because only the true leader of the Foot Clan knows one move, a certain move called the "Cur-Li maneuver". Once Splinter gets his memory back they return to the museum and Splinter applies the "Cur-Li" maneuver on Shredder. This "Cur-Li maneuver" is the main reason to rewatch this episode everytime you rewatch the classic toon, it's one of the most hilarious moments in TMNT history. I'd really love to post a link for those who don't know/remember it but unfortunately YouTube only has the complete episode and that's not allowed here. I don't know about you guys, but the first time I watched it I was expecting a really bad ass move form Splinter, then I was like WTF And let's not forget the way the episode ended. Shibano-Sama began lecturing the Turtles and Splinter who eventually got tired of listening to him and decided to leave, the very last line of this episode is Shibano-Sama saying "And save the last slice of pizza for me." The Turtles and Splinter facial expressiosn were priceless, they were like "WTF" Amazing how two moments made this one of the funniest TMNT episodes of all time, and it was a clipshow. Have you ever seen another clipshow that was actualy entertaining? I sure haven't. Discuss. |
