Goth IMO is the lesser of two evils. Mainly because as someone who felt like an outcast I could relate to the goths slightly. I liked wearing black, but I wasn't big on the make up or trench coats or wearing nothing but black, and I was overall a sort of happy person. But still, I got along with the goths because of also being kind of an outcast.

But the emo thing is actually popular it seems.

Oh yea, there was like one emo kid in 9th grade, two years later there's almost thirty. And my sister says it's pretty bad in her middle school.

I used to be one myself and my heart will always have a little black spot in it lol
But Emo's are the new goth no doubt they made goth really trendy in the 90's and most of the goth kids I knew hated that fact.
Thanks mostly to hot topic..the entire emo thing is just another music marketing ploy.
Just like hip hop and rap dumb music to dumb down the masses and distract them.

Gotta love the irony of not wanting to be a conformist, so the kids decide to shop at Hot Topic to find a new form of conformity.

Now, what would the best way to be a nonconformist? Maybe dress up in a full on Turtle costume, like that lady who is constantly in Starfleet uniform.

Well, you could just wear what you like, not based on trends.

I think the closest I ever got to following any sort of trend in high school was when I had a couple flannel shirts that I'd wear over t-shirts in the winter.

When something gets into the mainstream, it always kills it. Look at nerd culture. It used to be about fat guys and Star trek. And now a generation of unattainable hot nerds buying overpriced vynal figures and crap like that totally screw it for us unattractive geeks. Of course, at this point I'd like to point out, I'm an animation geek, and not really into that much Sci Fi.

Emo, to me, is lazy Goth. Just buy a couple lousy t-shirts. No effort of painting your face white, getting a Goku super saiyan style hair cut, and black lipstick (on both men and women).

If you want a good laugh, pick up the latest Mad Magazine (the one with Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan painted into the Norman Rockwell thanksgiving painting, puking everywhere). there's a dead on spoof of Hot Topic's catellogue in there. It even has a nice little joke about teenagers buying up 1980's specific shirts, when they don't even know what the hell they're supposed to be.

God. yeah. thanks for killing 1980's culture for me.

And Penguins. I loved penguins before they became mainstream. Now I could care less about the artic chickens.

I'm sorry but the art really blows. They look like shiney inflated balloons posed in various ways. It's not original OT art! That's their first mistake. It's cool they're trying to give fans classic TMNT but the art just...it isn't great.

Gotta admit it, ToKkA's a good model for the Rocksteady & Bebop shirt ^.^

It's closer than anything else we've got so far...so I'm happy with it.

Got the B&R shirt! Yay!

They also had a women's Darkwing Duck shirt, which I couldn't refuse.

At least I finally had a good reason to use my 15% discount card I've had forever!

Aw yeah I want the Bebop and Rocksteady one. I hope they do other Foot Clan ones, possibly Foot Soldiers. I also hope that Krang drawing we saw gets used on a shirt I loved it.

Okay, Bebop and Rocksteady are one thing, but hearing about new Darkwing Duck merchandise almost had me crap my pants. I think my eyes just popped out of my sockets. Too bad it's a woman's shirt.

But the Bebop and Rocksteady shirt seem like the crown jewel of the lot. The others have pointless sayings and (worse) a very odd style guide that looks like the comic strip artwork. If they looked more like the OT, I'd be a little more excited.
