Rank what is most important to you, Teenage, Mutant, Ninja or Turtle

In order of your most important to least important. I'll go first.

#1) Ninja.

#2) Turtle.

#3) Mutant.

#4) Teenager.

And I mostly put "teenager" dead last because I like the passage of time to play into things. What happens when they're no longer teenagers? Does it lose some stock or does it just change, evolve? I like to think the latter.

Ninja

Turtle

Teenage

Mutant

“Ninja” first because ninjas are cool

“Mutant” last because…I dunno actually. Just not that important to me

  1. Ninja - Because most stories will be about their conflict with the Foot and even when not, those skills still come in handy against other foes.
  2. Mutant - Not because it provides an excuse to insert action figures under the pretense of creating characters, but because the connection to the Utroms is another fundamental core of many stories.
  3. Teenage - Because even though we do get something that resembles "coming of age" stories, you obviously can't have them coming of age forever.
  4. Turtles - Because, let's face it, they could have been anything. Lizards, Cats, Parakeets, Dogs, Frogs, Salamanders, Armadillos, Squirrels, Hedgehogs... Rats... They're really just Turtles because that's what two guys making drawings thought was amusing one night.

1.) Ninja - Since that is what they do and not stop crime. I would like more Ninja elements.

2.) Turtles - It's just what they are.

3.) Mutant - More so that they are different from everyone else as opposed to there needing to be Mutants to fight.

4.) Teenage - Again, turtle years are different from human's. And it's just become detrimental to the property in recent years.

The teenage is always the least important part. The Turtles always acted like they were in their early 20's in all the oldest incarnations like Mirage, original cartoon, the first 3 movies, the Archie comics, and the 2k3 series. In all those series if you didn't know they were teenagers, you'd assume they were all around 20-21 or so.

And we've already seen where they've been trying to make the TMNT feel like "teenagers" several times since Viacom bought the IP and they still felt directionless. You should quit going after users spiting them just because you don't like their opinions. Most of your posts occur whenever something from this property comes out where you're telling off users to let it go. Cut it out because it's getting old and if it bothers you so much then don't respond. You don't need to be going around like you're some kind of paid shill hired by a TMNT social media page.

1 Turtles: I love the design given by Eastman & Laird, the shell, the muscles, hands and feet, the idea of a slow and lazy animal like a turtle reimagined as an athletic warrior.
2 Ninja: I love Japanese samurai movies, Bruce Lee, martial art and traditional ninja weapons...
3 Mutant: ...mixed with classic science fiction, genetic mutations, robots and space travels!
4 Teenage: I don't care about this aspect, I've always considered it useless, unwanted.

Yeah, I looked at them as "cool teenagers" when I was a kid because they did not -- for the most part -- act like teenagers. And there's absolutely no reason why they would.

That's kind of fun. Exceptions may apply but, I'll play:

1. Ninja
2. Mutant
3. Teenage
4. Turtle

I'll say that when we heard that the Platinum Dunes-TMNT may come from an alien planet, I didn't really mind that much - assuming they came when they were babies, were still raised in the shadows on earth, and Splinter's history with the foot was intact.
It was only when they said that they "came from a planet of turtle-oids" or whatever, that it crossed the line for me.

I like turtles and all, but I don't think it's essential to me.

The teenage aspect is a little hazier. I do like the "coming of age" aspects at times. I think it's easy to get confused between the characters being young...and the content being aimed at young people. I don't mind if the turtles are young, as long as the story isn't aimed at children.

1.Ninja
2. Mutant**
3. Turtle**
4. Teenage

** Nearly a tie as those two have to go hand-in-hand either way.

"Turtle" is simply lower because I care less about giving them animalisitic characteristics beyond what we already normally see, see them as people first and foremost (ninja people), and I have to be honest, illogically pulling their similarly human-like proportioned limbs into their shell abdominal cavity has always gone a bit too far for the suspension of disbelief for me. That mental image is horrifying. Even real turtles don't work like that. So that takes 3rd for me.

"Teenage" last as it was never an important part of the title to give much focus to and a nearly 40-year-old franchise should get to be grown now and then. (Yes, I know, comics.. I mean outside of comics, too.)

As kids that also made them the cool older "kids" to look up to (violence aside), and I feel like it loses something now if Nick is determined to try make them relatable peers on the same level, rather than showing positive aspects of older youth as something to be inspired by... as far as kids can be inspired by a cartoon. They were more mature than us, something to aspire to then. They were a picture of loyalty, responsibility, etc. Now they seem to want to make Turtles who'd just share links to Tiktok fads and think all those old positive qualities aren't important. (edit: Granted I guess that feeling largely rests on one previous version, so far.)

Andrew, I would argue that the turtles did “act like teenagers” in the Mirage books.

They goofed around, made mistakes, had outbursts, etc.
idk, I guess we have to define what we mean when we say “act like teenagers”.
They didn’t act like tweens though, which is what we see in stuff like the 2012 show, for example. And I like the 2012 show, but point stands.

As a kid I only recall saying “Ninja Turtles” or just “Turtles”, not til years later I say the whole title. Probably with the exception I would sing along to the cartoon theme song which says the full title. And I don’t remember anyone saying “TMNT” back in the day either (late 80s/ early 90s) it was always just “Ninja Turtles” to me for longest time.
