It doesn't matter what Xever is, I just was curious to know what his nationality is. I obviously knew he was black, but once I heard him speak and I heard the accent, I thought maybe somebody would know what he is. I was just striking a conversation and I want to try to have vast knowledge of the new charterers as much as possible. He could be white, black, or purple for all I care.

I kind of like him. I'm not being bias because I like the new show, I like his fighting moves and how he carries a blade (which is very rare now a days, because I don't know about anybody else, but I haven't seen a villain carry pocket knife or use it in a threatening way in a while) which actually IMO is sort of a nod to the 1950's, where people with leather coats, greasy hair, tight jeans and plane white shirt would carry.

I'm sure we'll find out more about Xever's bio and backstory as the season progresses. For now, all signs point to him being Brazilian. (Capoeira fighting style + Black ethnicity + Latin accent)
I think it's cool that the creatives went that route with him, it definitely breaks the mold, provides a nice contrast to the all-American Chris Bradford, and brings some Afro-Brazilian martial arts to the show, which should make the fight sequences all the more awesome.

Well if they are in New York, Xever has the upper hand because he knows the streets, but on the other hand, Chris has more professional skills in fighting.

A good episode. The action scenes were good and I liked the focus on Mikey (although I'm still a little disappointed at how "dumb" they're making him, for example, not knowing how to spell "wrong"). I can forgive his naivety about humans and the "outside world", but some of the things he says and does are just plain stupid.

My only quibbles echo those of others, namely that Shredder somehow knew that Hamato Yoshi now went by the name "Splinter" (although that could have been Yoshi's nick-name in the same way that Splinter refers to Oroku Saki as "Shredder") and April's rather awkward inclusion in the scenes in the lair. I would have liked April's introduction to Splinter and the lair to be show on-screen.

And they really need to address the ongoing search for April's father and the discovery of The Kraang's plans, even if it is a throw-away line. Sure, I don't expect April to be distraught ALL the time, but sitting around an abandoned subway station reading magazines seemed a little too chilled to me.

Episode 3 indicated that April had been doing some research into The Kraang by herself since she sent the turtles to the warehouse, so they could have at least shown her and Donatello at work on his computer trying to figure out a pattern to The Kraang's movements or researching the corporations which owned the warehouses from which The Kraang operated or even just trying to learn more about the mutagen.

Anyway, they're all rather minor quibbles for an otherwise enjoyable episode.

i just hope these Turtles eventually develop/change these traits in the long run. Give them some dimension and allow these characters to grow up just a bit.

It doesn´t matter where he is from, but just to give my opinion... i am from latin america, i have met many people form brazil* (not all of them are black) , and normally, when they speak english, they don´t sound like Xever.

Anyway, cool episode!!!!

Accents vary greatly from person to person, even from the same nationality. I taught English at Berlitz Language Center for several years and had dozens of Brazilian students. Some had almost no accent at all, and some sounded just like Xever (although much less mean)

You're right about not all Brazilians being black, though they are the majority. The last census in 2010 had Brazil's population at 51% black, just over half.
