Pat 'Krang' Fraley on Rob Paulsen's "Talkin' Toons"

I didn't even think to post about this here before when I first heard about it, but remembering that there had been threads before for the TMNT reunion one and the Ciro Neili ones, I thought I'd go ahead and post about it now.

This Friday - well, tomorrow now - the voice of Krang from the OT will be the guest on Rob Paulsen's podcast. There's no absolute guarantee of TMNT related material I suppose, but given that that's one of his most-known roles as well as the one that Rob used to pitch this on FB, I'm betting there will be some fun old stories to tell.

Update: And the podcast is a go! Click here to give it a download and listen.

Heck yeah! I hope to learn of Krang's development and maybe even a Burne Thompson or Slash story.

Even when I watch the show, my brain just doesn't realize that Krang & Burne Thompson are voiced by the same talent.

Or even Splinter & Vernon, for that matter!

I can sort of tell that Splinter and Vernon are the same person (nowadays anyway), but I'd never have picked up on Krang and Burne without being told first.

Looking over Fraley's Behind the Voice Actor's profile, he was also Baxter Stockman, Casey Jones, and Zak (one of the Neutrinos I think?) This site is usually pretty trustworthy, but is this right? It also lists him for Vernon, which can't be right (unless he had to fill in once or something).

Fraley was Zak, and was the original Vernon for the pilot, before the role was given to Peter Reneday.

I know it won't happen but won't it be fantastic if he voices a fight between Casey Jones and Slash!

Pat Fraley is just so funny and talented, that the classes he provides are really great for the VO business. I had no idea that he did multiple roles (except perhaps for some minor ones) until about 10 years ago. However, after hearing Krang saying "Now wretched reptiles you will face the wrath of Krang" with his articulated Android Body, you can pretty clearly tell that Krang and Burne are voiced by the same man.

After Rob Paulsen, Pat is probably the next prolific TMNT voice actor and his technique of "Pitch, articulation (no I don't mean action figures!), rhythm, and tone" to find a voice, really is one forumla to make a successful voiceover.

Let's not forget Antrax, Granitor, Napoleon Bonafrog, Raptor, Ray Fillet, Scumbug, Titanus, and Zak the Neutrino as well! He also voiced many cops throughout the series, along with that Malicurian Emperor from "April Fool", The Great Boldini, Professor Von Zifflan from "50-Foot Irma", Obento from the Usagi episodes, Hans from "Planet of the Turtles", Howie Hardy, G. Clef from "Leonardo Lightens Up", Wally Cleaver from "The Big Cufflink Caper", Dr. Davens from "Unidentified Flying Leonardo", Wally from "Leonardo Cuts Loose", Professor Mindbender in "Leonardo, the Renaissance Turtle", Kazuo from "My Brother, the Bad Guy", Destructor X from "Return of the Turtleoid", Rudy from "A Real Snow Job", Dr. Watson from "Elementary, My Dear Turtles", Skaarg from "Convicts From Dimension X", the Shogun robot from "Combat Land", Raptor from the H.A.V.O.C. arc, and even the "Baby Shredder" from the first Leatherhead episode!

You got exactly what you wished for! I just listened to this and I thought I was going to die at the ad-libbing part. "How would you like to be boiled in oil?"

Finally listened in a couple of hours ago. Laugh out loud stuff at times. Pat's always an entertaining guy, I could listen to him & Rob's banter for hours on end.

I loved this podcast a lot too, I wasn't expecting Fraley to be THAT entertaining. I loved the ad-lib scene between Krang and Raph, never realized that they didn't really do much together in the show until then.

Did anyone else have an audio issue with the podcast though? It seemed like it was...like, when Rob spoke, I'd only hear it out of the left headphone speaker, but when Fraley spoke, it'd be coming out of the right, instead of it being evenly mixed. It was weird.
