Many people have different feelings of her being casted as April. Some are furious and others think it's the best thing since slice bread. Some people also don't like her in general (don't give me that you don't know her crap because everyone on here and outside of here at least dislikes one person they don't even know). Everyone has different feelings towards her. I personally don't think she is a very a talented actress. And when you love something very much and it gets an interpenetration that you don't like you have every right to voice how you feel as long as your not hurting anyone.

It is what it is but that doesn't mean me and a handful of people have to be happy with it. The April that I grew up with and I am currently getting use to on the 2012 series is not a sex symbol. What are they are going to do ? Have wear a tight yellow shirt where her cleavage shows, a skirt and white close toe stiletto pumps ? I am not saying April is the type of character you would win an Oscar for, but I agree strongly with Laird that they could have found someone much better to play her. When I think and hear of Megan Fox I think of Kristen Stewart and Jennifer Lawrence. Bland, unenthusiastic, no emotion actresses looking for a paycheck and something to add to their resume. There is more to a character then looks and Fox's easily uses her looks in every character she plays. She's beautiful yes, but if you use that as a reason to bring your characters to life then your not an actor. You see it as taking a job, actors take it as blessing sometimes (especially if your playing an iconic character). Yeah, you'll get the phonies who who say "oh my God this is blah, blah, blah" but trust me it's all a visage. Think of Lindsay Lohan playing Elizabeth Taylor. Yeah... we can all see the hard work she put into that role.

I don't know. Maybe because I am an actor I see it differently then you because your a fan. But in the long run as I said everyone is entitled to their opinions.

It's because in the 2K3 series whenever they referenced the OT there was usually a snide tone to it. Others defended the references saying it wasn't meant to be snide but was "complimenting" the OT, but now after seeing and comparing the Nick show give their more innocuous OT references...its all the more clear that the 4Kids writers had a "too cool for school/OT" behavior in their OT references in the first season, and without a doubt in Turtles Forever.

The 4Kids story writing and character development was good and enjoyable in itself, but the harsh OT references were unnecessary. When people behind new projects (2K3) want to elevate their "cool" factor by having to deride other legendary projects (OT), it reeks of childish immaturity.
It's sad really... when the 2K3 show itself was already good in itself, but the extra kicks onto the OT is just... distasteful... especially since if it wasn't for the unprecedented success of the OT, the 2K3 series would most likely be nonexistent altogether.

Gently poking fun at something isn't snide. Certainly it doesn't seem that was their intentions. In Laird's production notes he suggests a random reporter be turned into Vernon because he felt the fans "get a kick" out Fred Wolf homages like that

How is April dressing in a yellow jump suit as a reporter snide? Or Gen dressing up in Rocksteady's clothes and having a warthog anthropomorph in the same episode snide?

It may have been over egged somewhat in Turtles Forever but lets not pretend almost all of the jokes weren't directly based on stuff that occured in the OT. Even the jokes that weren't (such as the noogies) wouldn't be out of place. They also poked fun at the '03 Shredder being an Utrom and the like not to mention the completely overblown characterisations of the Mirage Comics Turtles as almost nondescript bloodthirsty brutes.

Y'know what would have been a major knock to the OT turtles in TF? If the animators just drew regular 2k3 turtles in initialised belts and coloured pads. Voiced by the 2k3 actors barely trying to emulate the Fred Wolf counterparts and no references to the OT continuity. No scent analyser, no Technodrome cockpit, no Ninja Street, no phone booth elevator and no passersby all using the actual OT designs.

Do you realise how much work it must have taken to recreate the OT characters and world in that exact detail? Are you really suggesting they went to all that trouble just to be snide about them? If Nickledeon puts half as much effort into doing the same it'll still fall very short of doing the Fred Wolf show the love 4Kids did.

This is about the most exciting thing ever. Not the Mutagen Man thing, I don't even remember him. But the old voice actors playing the turtles?! I'm just as excited as I was about Turtles Forever before I actually watched it.

And I think people are confusing love for the OT with love for the franchise. The Nick team loves OT, and it shows all the time. 4kids? Not the case. And frankly, among people as a whole, there's just more nostalgia and fond memories of OT than there are for the Mirage comics. Most people don't, didn't, and won't read comic books. So you can't expect show's respect for, and faithfulness to the Mirage comics to be as appreciated as it would be for one of the biggest crazes of a generation.

I actually wonder if the whole episode will be 2D. We've already seen the Nick turtles in 2D on the children's books and in IDW's upcoming Nick comic book.

I could see the Nick turtles being pulled into the Fred Wolf universe and changing from CG to 2D.

There's already been nods to the 4kids series though, they're just more subtle. Raph and Mike's relationship in Nick is very similar to the 4kids version. Raph NEVER whacked Mikey in the original toon or comics.

Likewise Raph disliking bugs originated in 4kids.

Yes, the OT Turtles had obvious slapstick fighting methods, but they almost always took the threats by any villain seriously in the original show and didn't laugh it off or cower away as in "Turtles Forever". Seasons 1, 7, 8-10 (Red Sky Seasons) at least minimally prove that.

I'm not denying that. I'm just saying it's kind of apples and oranges to compare Laird keeping 4kids in line with the comics, and the Nick cartoon paying continuous homage to OT. And the latter is bound to feel more nostalgic because OT made a bigger impact on people, in general.

I'm not sure how that adaquately counters anything I posted to you about the intentions of the makers of the 4Kids show when poking gentle gun or making homages to the Fred Wolf show. To say these things were snidey is completely oversensetive.

About your reposting from a previous thread I'm not sure pointing six out of ten seasons of "competence" from the characters proves your point. Didn't the turtles lift up Shredder like a rag doll and throw him in some tar while laughing at him in "Night of Rogues" and that was Season 7? There's tons of things throughout the whole show which bare out a lot of the portrayal of the of the Fred Wolf characters in TF.

I I may do my own repost...

...might I add at the expense of accurately recreating their earlier seasons animation for their own turtles which dispapointed a lot of fans of the show.

Holy---! I should stop reading TMNT news while in the office. This news got me so excited and now I don't think I can get any work done!

But seriously, this is beyond awesome. Just the thought of hearing the OT Turtles again... I cannot wait!

The main point I'm saying is that the OT Turtles were not buffoons. You seem to be emphasizing the artwork (of your first counterargument), and I'm focusing on the character depictions. And again, as I said before... they had slapstick fighting methods (your ragdoll references of season 7), but I never once seen them in the OT behave and act so stupid and cowardice like Turtles Forever did. Like I said, 4Kids' writers "Flanderized" the OT Turtles. Just like 2K3 Raph said, "It's like having 5 Mikeys." (2K3 Mikey + OT Turtles)

And that cowardice strikes a blow against the whole foundation of what Ninja Turtles are supposed to be....brave in the face of danger, right? I'm just sayin'...

People who like the 2012 show but feel the need to say nasty things about the 2003 show in this section where it doesn't even need to be mentioned are just making themselves look bad. Am I suppose to be impressed your opinion is different then mine and you must now put down something I like when....surprise...people can like different things for different reasons. Here's a brilliant idea if you don't like the 2003 show don't talk about it. I also really like the 2012 show but I don't even like coming to this section of the forum because I feel the unwarrented, opinionated hate I somehow always find here is stupid.

Saw the facebook post... so I guess it's REALLY happening... great, a second turtles forever... I'm happy to see the OT voice cast return for guest appearances but I'd really rather it not go this way. At least when the 2k3 series did this kind of crossover it was after the show had already ended... Nick is doing it in the second season and who knows how this will play into the storyline. I don't want to see the classic turtles showing up all the time.

I like the Nick show becuase it is its own thing. I'm not interested in these nostalgic elements like the OT turtles and bebop and rocksteady showing up. And for the love of all things good NO KRANG (hopefully Kraang Prime is a much better character)

I grew up with the OT turtles in the 80s/early 90s so I think I have a right to this opinion: Let the OT turtles rest, stop bringing them back.
