"We're not that kind of sub" Oooohhh boy Love that subversive humor.

Karai is definitely more powerful and skilled than April, I think the fight scene showed that. But she used cunning to throw her off guard for a split second which is all that was needed. I think the problem here is Karai drastically underestimated April which was a mistake. Basically, April got lucky. It's a slippery slope to show April winning against Karai so early... but I think the show executed it well.

In their next meeting she probably won't be so lucky.

Really liked this episode!

I was entertained as always but I found this to be IMO one of the weaker episodes. The whole Kraang aspect of it felt like filler to me, rather than advancing the plot.

Wow, another universe where April O'Neil can beat up Karai after only a couple weeks of training... really? Who thought that would be good idea?

My favorite is Splinter licking Raphael. I really like how underhanded he is. I was expecting April doing that too, but I guess the mom dialogue would make Karai appear more human as she sympathized.

I'm amused how Shredder and Karai are so relaxed and unassuming squeezing info from the kraang. It feels like this is how they usually spend their father/daughter time.

Don's feelings are messing up his concentration. Huge disadvantage right there, but at least Mikey saves the day.

And I'm glad April and Karai met, had a chase scene and ends in a fight. Really intense how the show made it clear Karai's a more powerful fighter. I really winced how Karai beat April to a pulp, it looked like she wasn't holding back that much.

And poor April has the drop off from the surface. :/

April really didn't 'beat' Karai, she just got lucky. If not for the "I lost my mother" comment that got Karai off her guard, April would have beaten and got taken to Shredder.

um.......Karai kinda beat the snot outta her...alot.

April simply caught her off guard by bringing up a touchy subject for her and Karai.....which is when she flipped her down the flight of stairs..

and last time I checked... Flight of stairs > everyone

I felt the same way, every time the turtles came back on I literally groaned because I was enjoying April and Karai so much, but they've got to have the turtles doing SOMETHING. I think it would've been cool if the Kraang captured them and they were trying to escape during the episode, that could have been funny.

Beat up Karai? She got one shot in... ONE! Karai beat the **** out of her. If it wasn't for Karai's reacting to the Mother thing she'd be on her way to the Shredder. She was WAY outmatched.

She got a shot in, then managed to throw her down a flight of stairs... I'd call that a win. By the same token, April was able to knock out Karai in TMNT Part 4.
Both instances equally dumb... a couple of weeks of training vs. a lifetime of training. Sorry, not seeing it.

And I can't get over how this show got away with...

1) Don telling the others what he and April are up to. There was so much awkward silence of the three (that Leo even turns off his favorite tv show) I was stunned.

2) The lochness monster, and the happy noises. Classic expressions.

3) Mikey saying out loud it's not that kind of sub.

And guys don't convince Andrew. If he thinks tripping your distracted opponent to the stairs = April is a better martial artist after weeks of training then let him.

Come on, Andrew, even you have to admit the only reason April survived that fight was because Karai started playing around with the fight and then distracted by thoughts of mothers. April was just lucky Karai made the poor choice to stand so closely to those stairs.

And... maybe April has some latent alien physiology that allows her to recover from a harsh beating quicker than normal humans.

Wow, goes to show you how someone can have a totally different reaction to something that was fantastic. The April and Karai fight was very intense and really pushed the envelope in terms of showing April really get hurt.

I never thought we'd actually see April really getting beaten up, knocked to the ground, choked, and thrown over. I actually felt really sorry for April there. I must give Nick credit for going well above and beyond a typical kids show.

Seriously, why aren't more people shocked at how badly they showed April get beat up on-screen? What other children's show has a 16 year old beaten around like that? Sure there was no blood/scratches but that was to be expected.

I also thought all the dialogue between April and Karai was really strong.

This show almost feels like its written for adults rather than kids.

I'm so glad to know I'm not the only old fogey around here who still records stuff on VHS tapes.

I did feel some slight discomfort in the pit of my stomach when Karai laid a defenseless April over her knee and threw down a gut punch. Ouch!

The fact that she got up right after and 'defeated' Karai made it seem like she wasn't beaten up badly at all. It made me mad that she got up right away. I would feel differently if the Turtles came to save her at the end or if Karai kidnapped her.
