Getting hung up on things like clothing color is more ridiculous than the red hair thing. All cartoon characters wear the same thing every episode. Why does that define the character's appearance decades later?

If were were talking about the Power Rangers, that'd be different. They change clothes every day, and still look the same. It's an actual pattern. Either way, these shows were made that way for children, who are easily confused. But I guess Vernon has to wear pink, now. And if there's an Irma, she better be in a blue sweater. Like, why on Earth would you care?

If it helps, I agree. Sort of. I think she'd be attractive in the real world. I just never found her any more attractive than the average movie actress. But I'm also not one who thinks April has to be a hottie.

Its hard to believe this guy is the father of a young child using typical Internet cards pulled by 14 year olds.

Right. Well. Personal tastes aside, I'm not overly interested in whether the female lead they got is hot or not. Pretty people are fun to look at, I agree, but I'm much more concerned with how she'll play the role and how the role is set up to be played.

For the former concern, I have no idea. Megan Fox doesn't have a fantastic acting portfolio in my opinion, but I don't think she's horrendous and it is definitely conceivable that she could pull this one off. Really no one will know until the movie comes out or, at the very least, a trailer or two.

The latter concern we can begin to make interpretations and predictions on, however. This is why this trampoline scene kind of annoys me. It seems like we're being set up with an April who is going to be jumping on trampolines to feature her appearance as opposed to, say, an April who is doing in depth investigative journalism to feature her intellect. I suspect it's being set up so that she can break out of the cycle of bad news stories with the help of the Turtles, but that brings up problems of its own, in my opinion.

Nothing wrong with April being attractive at all, but I'm not interested in the character being reduced to just that. For this reason, I think the jury's still out on whether or not Fox was a good choice, but I'm starting to hear whispers in the courtroom about whether Liebesman and Bay are doing the role justice. (Blast. I tried to follow through with the "Jury's Out" idiom, but may have just ran it into the ground...)

Plus, she's not even playing the everywoman/girl-next-door introspective April of the comics or elsewhere (and even there Shakespearean acting wouldn't be required)... there's every reason to believe she's playing the Fred Wolf April O'Neil, Larger than Life Top Sh*t Super News Reporter... and what acting would be required to do that but play the damsel in distress? Yeah, to an extent I agree (though I would definitely argue that there are varying degrees of the quality of "damsel in distress" acting).

But I think my point was misunderstood. I wasn't really making the point that I was worried about Megan's acting; I was making the point that I was worried about the part itself was being set up.

I am envisioning a scene where Vernon is told that he is to be working with an April O'Neil at a lifestyle reporting gig only to cut to a scene where he turns a corner and sees her slow-mo jumping on a trampoline. April is a character who has had loads of dignity in the past (even this version of April, a la the first film). I'd like to see that dignity maintained, but it seems like that's not necessarily the case here.

Lots of conjecture happening on my part, I know, but that's what these forums are all about, eh?

Ok, let's see, Ninjas/Shinobi, who were esentially the Sengoku period's version of silent commados who rely on thier stealth, and people want them to run around the modern world, with it's modern weapons, in old Kabuki costumes instead of protective bulletproof armor, and weilding only feudal era weapons with no guns or modern weaponry, despite the fact that's what modern ninjas would probably do?

April is obviously doing some lifestyle piece on what looks like the hot new fitness craze. They could've had her midriff out. They could've shown some more cleavage. Instead, she's wearing the most modest of workout outfits - under a jacket!

The turtles will probably think she's hot, like they did in the first movie. They are teenage boys. But this could easily have been the under-the-hood scene, and it apparently isn't.

My worries of an oversexualized April are pretty much gone.
