People are clueless Japan has occupied and assaulted China multiple times thorough out history, China also lost a massive fleet of ships and soldiers they launched to take over the Japanese.

It's where the term Kamikaze or Devine Wind wind comes from, with all the Japanese martial arts experts here you think some one would know.

I don't understand people expecting China to do whatever we want, it's their country if they don't want things to be there they have the right, it's not right to make fun of them if they don't want to show it there is nothing wrong with it.

So why should this movie bow down to China? The idea of Shredder being changed from Japanese because of some idiot Chinese people who don't even know what the TMNT franchise is, is absurd.

Unit 731.. Google it.. Japan did some REALLY F'd up stuff to the Chinese.. I think the debate is just about American filmmakers trying to do stupid stuff to make movies more palatable to Chinese.. Which is arguably in the end not even worth it.

I googled it as I'd never heard of Unit 731...wow, I'm at a loss of words to be quite honest.

Riiiiiight. Because years of hostility and anger should just be forgotten just so a cartoon character can stay exactly the same.

Credit card, you got it!

Then lets just cancel the movie. Or any movie with a Japanese guy in it or any kind of Japanese martial arts. I think it was dumb they felt they had to tack on an extra scene for china in iron man 3 and they complained because it was too obvious. Of course it was obvious it was tacked on, IT'S YOUR FAULT IT WAzd TACKED ON!! At this point Chun Li would be ashamed to be Chinese.

Is this what this whole thing is going to devolve into now?

"Damn The Chinese"?

EDIT: BTW. Chun-Li. GREAT example. A fictional character created by the japanese.

Why the hell are these movie studios cowering to China? They barely make any profit over there anyway.

Since when do third world countries dictate who can be casted for a movie?

Which has nothing to do with anything but whatever.

This is just about a studio trying to get the chinese audience. It's not about being PC or whatever. They're just marketing.

That is if any of this bullsh*t is true.

Your paranoid ravings are bordering on xenophobia as of now. The sheer self-loathing in your tone is staggering. This isn't about you not liking the direction this movie is taking, this is about your multitude of issues that become more and more apparent with each day. I would put you on ignore (you deserve it), but you're weirdly entertaining.

You are the worst type of "fanboy" there can be, the most decrepit kind that gives "fanboys" such a bad name. Calling the makers names like “scumbags” sums you up as a person perfectly (including your “fanboyish” obsessive paranoia). Calling someone a scumbag is a pretty dark thing and it usually is only reserved for when you feel hate or pure anger towards someone. If you really are expelling that kind of energy because of the new movie then you really are a small, pathetic creature in dire need of either help or a shag. Which one will it be? Getting laid is actually quite easy if you put your mind to it. Just something to think about.

Its simply because I've been traumatized by reading the production news of this movie. I love the Nick cartoon and the current IDW TMNT comics, so since we got two great TMNT reboots, why is the movie the odd duck?

When Nick originally bought TMNT everyone feared they would change the property so much into something unrecognizable or awful. Thankfully those fears were unfounded, as both the new cartoon and comics turned out pretty awesome. However this movie is EXACTLY what people feared back in 2009 when Mirage sold the rights to Viacom. THIS is what people feared TMNT would become, and this movie is every TMNT fans worst nightmare from back then.

Its a damn shame too because I would have loved a TMNT movie on the level of the current Marvel or DC stuff.

Traumatized? I don't think you know that means.

The way he's acting, I wouldn't be surprised if he is traumatized.

China is hardly a third world country. The arguement can be made for second world, since they are still communist......but as into capitalism as they seem to be lately it's a weak arguement.

China's a superpower. With billions of consumers. And a growing middle class with lots of disposable income. It's just plain business.

Each year, China is becoming a more important market for hollywood films. It's the reason films like Looper, Iron Man 3, The Dark Knight, and Transformers 4 become co-financed by Chinese companies and film there. Their business is huge for American companies.

Let's all take a deep breath, and remember that this whole 'Shredder is white because of China' thing is just speculation on some random blog.

Haha. This. Seriously.

Also, even if true, the more accurate statement would be "Shredder is white because of American statistical analysis."

Wait a second.. I think you just talked yourself into a corner.. Everyone feared that Nick would ruin TMNT right? Your words.. Right now "everyone" fears they will ruin the movie.. So now that you have established that Nick or IDW didn't ruin the Turtles why can't you give them the benefit of the doubt with the film? You haven't seen ANYTHING tangible from this film except a couple BTS shots and some rumors floating on some gossip sites..

I wonder what idiots they got the statistical analysis from that Shredder being white would be more marketable and better for the movie?
