Too much negative response.
I see a lot of opportunity in this.
The turtles get a new ally, but it could also turn around.
And I am really looking forward to see Raphs' response.
Also, wouldn't it have been sort of odd for Spike to stay with them forever?
If he lives as long as them, that is.

No matter what I am looking forward to see how the characters will respond to this change.

I don't think I can be any more excited about this! I'm assuming he'll have some form of bad temper to be best friends with Raph and he'll just kind of come and go. It does upset me a little that Spike won't be in pet form any more. I just thought that it was neat with Raphael having a pet. I do, overall, like the design. The original slash was slightly oddly shaped too so this doesn't bother me. I'm especially looking forward to getting a figure!

I think if they did something, where Mikey became extremely jealous/or such against Spike (since he'll probably be taking all of Raph's attention away from him), then that would be interesting.

I could see Mikey being jealous of Raph spending all his time with his new best bud Spike, or something like that.

I just thought of the most obvious thing. Archie Slash worked best as an anti-hero. What if that's what causes his falling out with the turtles? What if Slash wants to be a good guy but hates the Turtles cause they won't do whatever it takes to end a threat. What if he takes justice to a path the Turtles won't follow. He might leave them to fight crime Punisher style, and if the Turtles get in his way, too bad.

We already discussed this earlier in the thread. It's pretty safe to say Slash will have a falling out eventually and become evil or at least conflicted with the Turtles.

I never heard THAT as one of the reasons though. I just heard he'll be evil for the sake of being evil, or maybe he gets tired of Raph treating him like a pet.

I'm thinking more of him being an anti-hero... still good, or at least doing what he does cause he sees himself as the good guy.

The one thing that scares me about his small head is that they better not make him all brawns and no brains....

Why is it safe to say he will have a falling out? Why should Ciro have to do exactly the same thing as before? Just cause some people want to see the same thing rehashed doesn't mean it is a given. Maybe Slash this time around stays with the Turtles and does become the 5th Turtle for a time, maybe he sacrifices himself to save Raph, maybe he gets reverted back to Spike. Just cause he was evil before doesn't mean he has to be evil this time.

That's another possibility. Perhaps if Don succeeds in curing Timmy, Spike/Slash might be standing too close and accidentaly 'cured' too.

Because a 5th Turtle is a boring and bankrupt idea. Also Slash being a good guy is just...boring. He'd basically be a Turtle version of The Pulverizer especially with his bigger and more clumsy side.

As others have said, they also probably can't resist having the Turtles fight him, just like the Turtles fought Leatherhead.

So big equals clumsy? Yeah I'm not buying the kool-aid your selling. Sammo Hung proves that wrong. If Slash is trained by Splinter there is no reason he couldn't be as agile as the others. I mean it is fun to speculate but to flat out say "this means this" is just silly. Right now we have a photo and that is it. At the moment one theory is as valid as another.

And the ida of a 5th Turtle is boring? Why because you say so? There are stories that could be told that maybe focus on being the outsider and trying to fit into a group that has been around longer with each other. Or maybe he starts a rivalry with Dogpound because they can go toe to toe and are equally matched instead of Dogpound always beating the crud out of the Turtles.

Point being is we don't need to see the same thing exactly over and over again. I have faith in Ciro to do this take justice however he presents him.

But he would now be a sentient being... I don't really think it'd be OK to undo that, at least intentionally.

You actually think a permanant 5th turtle to the team is a good idea? As PL said its a horribly bankrupt idea that ruins the perfect dynamic the TMNT has and adds a 5th turtle for no real reason other than, "Here's a new Turtle."

Slash needs to go rogue and on his own. Its the only reason his character ever worked.

Peter Liard said a lot of things and thought a lot of things were good ideas that weren't. I'm not going to follow someone blindly because they created something. Turtles has become bigger then him or Eastman. I'll forever be grateful to them for creating the franchise but that doesn't mean they are God.

To say it wont work is short sighted and narrow. Just because it hasn't been done in a way that works doesn't mean it can't be done. To force your opinion as fact doesn't make your opinion right. Just like my opinion may not be right. But I can speculate and toss ideas out to talk about. I value everyones opinion and talking about them is great. But it annoys me when people say "No, it has to be this way."

A 5th Turtle as a real main cast member (as in, he gets the same screentime as the other 4 turtles get and he's in every episode) would be a very obvious "jump the shark" moment for the franchise.

Thankfully I'm sure Nick knows this too, and from the sounds of things he'll only be with the Turtles for an episode or two before going off on his own for whatever reason.
