My favorite scene hands down in this episode was Kurby's mutation. It reminded me how awesome Snake's mutation was in season one. I really hope someone uploads that scene (not the full episode of course due to copyright). Very excited to see how Baxter's mutation is going to look.
Not to sound like a stick in the mud, but I found it to be a little queer that bats suddenly appeared in New York hanging under air conditioners. Being a native New Yorker that's very rare. Also, maybe it was a quick shot but I didn't see Kirby touch a bat so how did that mutation work ? Aren't you suppose to touch whatever living thing is near you (while covered in mutagen) to be mutated into that thing ? I really felt bad for Kirby, but for some odd reason when reading the speculations for season two and someone (I forgot the poster's name my apologizes) said that the mutagen was going to fall on April and then Kirby pushed her out of the way to save and he get's mutated, it didn't make me feel that much upset as opposed to when Timothy got mutated. I know he's a cartoon character and at the same time I don't want to sound heartless, but I guess feeling strongly that might happen to him didn't bother as much. In a way I am happy April is mad at the Turtles. I know how superheros are suppose to have flaws, but I really like how the Turtles flaws stand out more in this incarnation. Plus, it shows that she is not taking her father's mutation very lightly. Aside from Donatello who was compassionate about Timothy mutation. But I guess we will have to see Ralph's reaction to Spike/Slash. Also I thought this was suppose to be an hour and that the 1987 Turtles was suppose to appear ? Overall this was very, very good episode. I am looking forward to the next one with the mutated squirrels. I wish Ciro read these comments on here because as a true horror fan, I love all the nods and homages he is making to classic horror films and incorporating them into the show. This makes me appreciate the show even more aside the fact that it's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles |

It's also pretty safe to assume that people on here that didn't approve of April's lack of character development in Season 1 will approve of this ending.
This will allow the show to build April's character away from the turtles now. |

Here's my question, say Donnie finds a way to cure Kirby, do you think Splinter will want a cure or is he so used to his new life now?

I would seriously doubt it. Considering Splinter's moral in this episode is to not dwell on the past. Plus it seems in his mind that he as gained more in his life as a rat than he did as a human.

Or the "cure" could have unintended effects- perhaps fixing Kirby's mind, but bringing him all the way to a traditional "Wingnut" look instead of turning him human. |

One word: Mikey.
Why were you so stupid in this premiere? - his jokes were off and unfunny - his non-common sense/no sensitive side on what happened to April's dad being mutated into a bat. I thought he's the most compassionate one among his brothers? When they caught Kirby in a cage in the warehouse, Mikey practically excitedly exclaimed loudly: "We did it, Don. We caught the Kirby Bat!" whilst gesturing like a grotesque monster. What is so amusing about catching April's dad Mikey? I felt it's so offensive to be joyfully partying when you entrapped your friend's own father. - him blurting out about them dropping the mutagen all over the city. This one got me: he's so casually saying "Don't worry, don't worry, we'll get it all back" to April. As if the situation is like spilled milk or ice cream and we can all get it back. Like it's no big deal. Like April's dad turned into a bat is like not a serious issue at ALL. What the hell? It's not like they can change him back (atm). Didn't he think about April's feelings? Again, where's your common sense? Is your brain dead Mikey? I mean.. is my fave turtle has gone beyond retarded and unlikeable now? I blame the horrible writers. -_- --------- Other than that, the cgi is amazing and a lot of details and improvements can be seen. It seemed a bit rushed here and there (plus that Mikey problem I mentioned above) but overall, well done. And I like that April and the boys' relationship has a friction, builds character. The way she shouted at the boys, damn. Last edited by Shark_Blade; 10-12-2013 at 11:59 AM. |

Actually, maybe it's just me but I think owning up to something and then saying, don't worry, we'll do our best to straighten things out, seems to be more mature than acting like you had nothing to do with it...
The way it's been written would point to kids that lying is the way out of a difficult situation, which it isn't. Eventually April (or ones parents for that matter) would discover the truth and be more disappointed and angry.

Yes he's not lying (which is good) but Mikey has no empathy at ALL in that scene. Like the consequence of Kirby being mutated means nothing much to him. He said all that whilst smiling widely and happily by the way, all chilling-nothing-much-is-happening, which just infuriates me.
Look at these, makes me wanna punch him: ![]() ![]()

I only felt she lacked development in her first few episodes. After a while they obviously made strides toward giving her a personality.

Splinter confronting them saying that were too cocky and confident in beginning sets up that scene at the end. They just came off stopping an alien invasion and saving the world. Mikey of course would think this is a walk in the park, being cocky and confident. But the lesson learned is that not all people respond the same to terrible situations by just being confident. When Mike called him Wingnut, I was thinking "really?", and then Donatello got on his case about giving April's father a monster name. Rather uncanny.

Good ep! Yeah when Mikey called him Wingnut I was like "Ok so will he now get a mutated mosquito friend?"
And Mikey's costume reminded me of a Tick character... Incidentally... the dramatic creature (real one) is a Prairie Dog.

T.T for both April and for Donnie. I'm glad Mikey decided to do the honest thing and admit that her dad got mutated because they screwed up. And it was better April heard it from them right then rather then finding out later. Still he didn't need to sound like he was proud of the fact they mutated her father. Whoa, that was a great opener. I have a feeling that with both Timothy and Mr. O'Neil mutated, Donnie may create an anti-mutagen. I really don't want Mr. O'Neil to remain a bat forever. Oh, and I loved April's reaction to the situation. Very realistic. I want to see how long her dislike of the turtles lasts.
Is it just me, or does Donnie have the most complex personality of the turtles? In this episode, the other ones remained in their good guy/angry/idiot archetypes. Only Donnie really showed any emotion or personality. Oh, Mikey. When Timothy was mutated he acted the same way too which seems out of character. (Wasn't he tapping on Tim's container this episode, too?) I love Mikey, but I sincerely hope that we'll see the sympathetic side he showed to Leatherhead.
