i dont know if its been mentioned yet, but on the title screen, the mutants shown are snakeweed, spiderbytes, rat king, newtralizer and dogpound and fish face. There isnt however the pigeon, monkey rockwell, the cockroach, or justin.

So we could assume none of them will be returning. or assume that those are just the ones that dont work for shredder, seeing how baxter isnt shown, since he doesnt work for shredder anymore. if thats the case, then that means spiderbytes and newtralizer would be working with shredder

Pigeon Pete isn't a bad guy. Justin is a one time character. Or at least I hope. Rockwell is not a bad guy. You got me on Baxter though. I think it was a bad guy montage, not necessarily 'all who work for Shredder' montage.

You know I really hope Baxter can talk after he becomes a fly like in the old show. I'd hate to see Baxter become another mindless beast like the rest of these mutants

Not a bad start, but not the best either. I kind of wish they would of mutated April's dad a little later, after all we did just get him back from the Kraang. Seems a little to early to start another "Oh no, Aprils dad is in another crisis" thing I guess.

But I was really into the plot twist of April being mad at the turtles, I'm excited to see where this season will go and how it will progress the characters. It's looking awesome and fun.

I have a hard time believing the actual Wingnut is going to show up now. Seems that early sketch for Wingnut/Screwloose was probably scraped when they got the idea to turn Kirby into a bat instead, but had Mikey call him Wingnut as an easter egg.

Yes Wingnut/Screwloose are aliens, but I really can't see them having two bat creatures show up with the other one having the same name Mikey called Kirby.

In fact judging by the upcoming toy lineup, we won't be seeing any of the old Mutanimal characters in this show, at least not anytime soon.

What prompt you to believe that Spiderbytes and Newtralizer would have/will be working with the Shredder ? Just because they are in the intro and Baxter works solo now ? That's really not a very good explanation. I don't think they want have every mutant villain on the show working with/for Shredderot this season be devoted to "Night Of The Rouges". I think they all can do damage on their own.

It's fine And since you brought that up, about those not being mindless, that just made me think that's probably why they're in the intro. Snake weed, rat king, newtralizer, and spider bytes were the only intelligible mutants from season 1, so that makes more sense

As if the situation is like spilled milk or ice cream and we can all get it back. Like it's no big deal. Like April's dad turned into a bat is like not a serious issue at ALL. What the hell? It's not like they can change him back (atm). Didn't he think about April's feelings? Again, where's your common sense? Is your brain dead Mikey?

I mean.. is my fave turtle has gone beyond retarded and unlikeable now? I blame the horrible writers. -_-

Yeah, but a significant reason April got upset was because the Turtles were trying to conceal the truth from April, of what happened on that spaceship. And that the Turtles were partly responsible. Remember the other three kept signaling Mikey to be quiet?

The gloating with the Turtles was somewhat understandable, but it became excessive in terms of filling 1/3 of the episode. It could have been an excellent opportunity to show some type of brother bonding outside of their fighting, but it was a perpetual gloat fest. I still think mutating Kirby (April's Dad) was over-the-top and an unnecessary writing device to wedge something in between April and the Turtles. Plus, the show still didn't fully explain why the Kraang kidnapped Kirby in the first place. Furthermore, it forcefully pushed aside the developing budding father-daughter relationship (that we hardly get explored in other TMNT versions). Okay...

Why is this series so focus on mutants now? I mean, yeah, I understand its a chance to reinvent a new TMNT series, but it seems like more of the excitement is around what new animal or thing can be mutated rather than the actual storytelling. As I stated before, its odd that there's a trend of many things the Turtles get close to, seems to get mutated. If theses writers are not careful, some viewers are going to see the mutation trend as a shallow writing stunt to create drama.
I don't know... I wish these Turtles would actually start infiltrating crime rings and be more involved in human-oriented plots, or at least using some of the mutants from season 1 to add more depth to those mutant villains, rather than the audience expecting some new mutant coming up with each episode.

I did like April turning on the Turtles, and her anger was justifiable, but I just don't think it was effectively done as I would have liked it.

...Oh and a big ol' plot hole: What happened to that T-Rocket after it launched? I'm sure it crashed somewhere in the busy NYC streets, drawing even more unnecessary attention to them.

Overall this was more or less a neutral episode for me. I'm neither disappointed nor excited, its the standard Nick episode:
A new Donatello invention? Check
Unrequited love/crush between Donatello and April? Check
Leonardo heroically saving the day? Check, in landing onto Kirby and placing him in a cage
Mikey acting dumb and annoying as usual, with Raph yelling at him? Check
A new mutant? Check

Yeah, this episode pretty much fits the criteria for the standard episode. **shrug** Then again, who knows it could all, hopefully, lead up to something more suspenseful and dramatic later on in the season.

I still can't believe how many years I wasn't aware of it on the cover of #1!

So Kev, what did you think of him tapping Tim's container? Mischievous? I wasn't sure what to make of that at first. Becca thinks he probably didn't realize what he was doing since he seems like one of those guys who have to be fidgeting or tampering with something while solving a difficult problem. Like those guys who randomly click pens and all that.

I guess that turtle must have seriously vivid dreams. First he dreams of Don and himself as rodeo detectives trying to stop an evil clown stealing a buckaroo diamond. The cheese thing was probably some weird dream he had due to eating pizza before bed, knowing Mikey.Cool that the guys called him out on the cheese demon thing, vivid dream or no.
