Maybe the studio will look at the backlash of hate the Halloween costume has brought by itself and go back and have them change the looks of the turtles to be better.

They did it for the Transformers movie when people complained about Megatron's look initially when it was leaked.

It'll just suck for Playmates then given the figures are already made I'd guess. Of course, it wouldn't be the first property they did toys for and then the source material changed before hitting theaters (Star Trek: Generations).

What did the original design for Megatron look like VS what we saw in the actual movie?

I'm no supporter of Bay and this movie sounds bad but I remember the way I felt when I originally saw the Nick turtle designs. To me they looked like nasty ps2 designs but I've grown to love them. Who knows how they'll look? I''m just glad the comics and the show are awesome, I can deal with another mediocre movie as we've really only gotten 1 truly great turtle film.

Yeah... How bad could the first Megatron design be, when we got what we got in the movie.

From what I recall, Megatron's head was WAY more monstrous in appearance with way more spikes and stuff to where you couldn't make a lot of things out, much like his body.
People complained about the look and they altered the head, particularly the 'helmet' part to be a bit closer to the G1 Megatron 'bucket head', but not a whole lot since it's barely noticeable.

I know there was an article a while back showing the differences, but I'd have to search to find it again.

I showed my wife the picture of the costume and apparently if I go see the movie, it'll be alone. Seeing as how she's the one that drives, that'll be tough. Something about "looks like ass" and the rest was just angry grumbling.

So I've had over a day to soak in the pic. I haven't really warmed or coldened to it in either way more than before, but I have a very intense desire to see just what the heck they are doing with the designs for this movie.

Good or bad, I just need to see them! I hope it's soon.

Ah, yes. There it is.

The approved one just BARELY resembles the 'bucket head' G1 look.

I had forgotten how weird the original version looked, just recalled it being very different.

Still, the fact that they were able to change the look of Megatron due to being CGI before the movie was released...they could do the same for the TMNT turtles, but I think it's probably going to be wishful thinking.

maybe...though i cant see a full turtle change...not because i think the design is perfect but price..i could see them fixing the faces to be more the turtles we know..if you get what i mean

So

I really hope the others get released in a timely manner like they said. We need a trailer soon, because I don't think there's enough time to change the design and this has created a lot of negative feedback for this movie.

Doubt it. Where did you get that idea? If you read the same thing we all did, t(he)y released Mikey and would release the other guys later. The costumes.

I dont remember any real positive feedback on this.
We do need to remember... Eastman is endorsing this... "Trust me...".
And to my knowledge, Larid was the one who was also negative on this.

Well, to clarify things a bit, she loves TMNT as much as anyone I've ever met, and is also quick to reign me in when I'm being too cynical.

Actually, together we've mutually decided that I, myself, am the absolute limit of how cynical a person is allowed to be. Anyone more cynical than I am probably shouldn't even be breathing; they'll just find something about the oxygen to complain about.

But she's with the cynics on this one. She was okay with pretty much everything up until this.

Everything?

Man, she has a REALLY positive outlook on life then.

Because during this entire production, either through official confirmation or unsubstantiated rumor, things have pretty much not been good.

Casting decisions and plot elements mostly. Since the only thing we've had to see involving the TITLE CHARACTERS OF THE MOVIE is motion capture suits, blurry photos of a decent turtle lair, a decent Turtle Van and a horrifying-in-the-bad-way children's Halloween costume based on rumored-now-confirmed designs of the Turtles.

But then again it REALLY says something that this design is so bad that someone with that positive an outlook about this movie made her pretty much not want to see it at all.

I showed the mask costume to a few younger relatives (who were around 9-13 years old) and after they were staring at it for a FULL minute (without me telling who it was), the youngest asked, "So is this Nick's new mutant? SnotFace? Cause its the same color and texture."

OK, so I saw the movie figures earlier today. The sculpting and articulation's great, but the whole design of the Turtles is very much "Next Mutation on steroids".

FWIW, there were no sunglasses on Mike, and I don't recall any of the turtles having tattoos...
