Absolutely. The movie debuted on the brink of TMNT's most popular stage. The cartoon built the majority of the fan base.

Yeah, can't say I'm a fan of this design.

Right now, I wouldn't be surprised if they included a scene of Michelangelo smoking pot.

Keep in mind this is Michael Bay. Have anyone seen transformers? Mainly the second one. There were 2 robots (tracks and Skids) that sounded like hip hop stereotypes.

Now there will be 50 comments about how that is not Michael Bay movie.
Liebesman is even worse, he's like a poor mans Michael Bay.

To be fair, it'd just be confirming what we all already know...

Is this a joke? Becuase I can really see that happening in the new movie.

As if a constant craving for pizza toppings like "pepperoni and ice cream with bananas and hot fudge" wasn't a dead giveaway?

Isn't Nickelodeon still associated with this movie? Why do people think we're gonna get "turtle testies" and some waggin' the tail action from April?

Michael Bay has jokes like that in the films he directs. But he's not directing this film. Plus, Hasbro might've let him get away with g-string humor, decepticon balls, and pot-brownies, but somehow I doubt Nickelodeon will be so liberal (outside of their trademark fart jokes....).

Nope, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they included a scene of the sort in the movie. I mean, Transformers 2 had pot brownies, Mikey smoking pot isn't that much of a stretch, right?

The film will most likely be PG13/12A, so I don’t think they would actually show one of the film’s protagonists smoking drugs. You can get away with showing pot brownies in a PG13 film, but not smoking pot.

At this point

I think it's Impossible for anyone besides outside of this forum to have high hopes for this movie. The script and acting would have to blow me away and we already know the script is crappy.

Actually, I'm still not convinced they even had a finished script. More likely they excised the most horrible parts of the leaked script, filmed most of the action scenes from it (which wouldn't necessarily, by themselves, require any storytelling explanation), and decided to wing the rest on-site and edit it into something cohesive in post-production.

A great deal of the project seems not only rushed, but entirely made up as they went along. It happens in Hollywood a LOT. In this case, they're "only" making a "cheesy live-action commercial for kids' toys", so they probably figured having a story was secondary to having a Turtle Van, some blatant Domino's Pizza product placement, and lots of fight scenes.

Time-wise, though, they certainly did not have time to start from scratch on a script between the time the old one was leaked and the time they started filming. And we do know that quite a few scenes from the leaked script made it into the final product in some form, so that script was STILL the basic template they were working from, even if they changed some of it.

This movie is going to be some bizarre patchwork Frankenstein monster of suck.

It just sucks

Someone taking something you grow up with loving and ruining it. Like if you don't care don't take on the task, get someone who cares about it and wants to put out a good product. Like the last superman and batman movies, green lantern could have been better if they didn't cast Ryan Reynolds. He needs to learn he's only good in comedy's besides that horror movie he did when he had the beard. I can't spell it but its the A-ville horror. And xmen origins wolverine but he didn't have that big of a part. Even some x-men movies were done terrible . Just gotta stay true to the roots.

Uh..... no.

No one knows what the new script entails. They brought on an entirely new writer, and got a complete rewrite.

And as someone who read the leaked, original script (and still have it) I can tell you from set pics alone that, outside of a few similar scenes and designs (really just the Turtles and The Foot) this is a completely different movie.

Some major differences being that Bebop and Rocksteady are no longer in the film, while Karai and Baxter Stockman have been added.

Also the extremely obvious fact that, much moreso than the originl script, the new script is HEAVILY inspired by the Fred Wolf toon, with Irma, Vern Fenwick, and Burne Thompson added.

And one more thing, the original script wasn't even that bad. Or at last, not even half as bad as people said it was/is.

As far as the Turtles' personalities, relationships and interactions with each other, as well as the action sequences and display of their abilities, it was perfect.

I really can't call those points anything but perfection.

Even Splinter was great, despite being criminally underused.

It was just every other character, and the origins given, that stunk to high heaven.

However, it appears that they have fixed the issue that the original script had. The issue being that they tried to execute a Fred Wolf inspired film, but deviated too far from the source material in their mad, Nolan-esque scramble to provide a deeper explanation for the Turtles' origins and Dimension X, and to create a backstory that warranted the shockingly large amount of screentime the Turtles had (They were in 95% of the scenes following their intro in the first act). And subjectively speaking, the script sucked big time because of that. It got the Turtles themselves right, but failed with everything else. Very much like the Transformers films.

However, objectively speaking, it was not a terrible script.

Not great, but definitely (objectively) good. At the least, decent. All it needed, in terms of a rewrite, was to be steered back on course with the periperal characters like April, Casey (who has been dropped), and The Shredder. And of course, opt out of the altered origins in favor of the original being retaned.

That original script, had it been produced, would've been enjoyable on the level that Transformers and Transformers: Dark of the Moon are enjoyable.

Fortunately, Nickelodeon and Paramount realized thats not enough, and that the issues that it had needed to be resolved.

One must hope that they knew what did work and didn't drop that as well.

And yet it's influenced by the OT only superficially, as it doesn't look like those characters will bear much resemblance, if any, to their cartoon counterparts. Vernon has fight scenes and Burne/Bernadette is Whoopi Goldberg.

They're not staying close to Fred Wolf, they're putting a FW veneer over their own half-baked ideas, which isn't really the same thing at all.

Other than a few names and an insistence on being "wacky", I'm betting the movie has little of substance resembling the cartoon. They skimmed Wikipedia, took some notes and grafted it onto what they already had. Hardly "inspired by." Hardly "inspired", at all.

I'm wondering when some people will just accept that this project is being handled by people who give less than a sh*t. It's a cynical cash grab, nothing more.

He has The Rock's tattoo.

All we need is for him to show up in a cameo to make this movie completely worthless.

It had Mikey oogling a "sexy Turtle babe," so you might want to boost up those standards quite a bit.
