They're not perfect but I voted good. That leo close up shot of the maquette is a thing of beauty. I believe the maquettes are a closer representation, I have a feeling that the poster is old as sin and they will have been edited since. nothing looks great when all the colours have been over saturated to stand out on a poster
Those toys are a bit crappy because they are cheap sculpts/casts for kids, and are not a good source of judgement. You can tell the paint apps are lazy, they are unfinished, and although the finals won't be much better, its still not a great representation. who knows, if the film is a success we may get high end "collector" versions. Nostrils make sense, it may not be what you want, but not only are noses a great source of expression we really have no idea how these things will look when in motion. Taking a stylised cartoon and making a "real world" analog is impossible, especially when the current ninja turtle cartoon is very stylised. If you set a film in our reality, it makes sense to try and create something that could exist. So yeah, I am behind the designs. I say give the film a chance. don't waste hours of your life being angry about this stuff, you can sh11t all over it when you've seen it. |

The funniest thing to me on the "negative" side, is the fuss about the nostrils.
Really? Donnie has a proton pack and taped-up Buddy Holly specs, but the little nose slits bug you more? Raphael kind of looks like a shrunken Godzilla 1998 wearing a doo-rag, but the nostrils are the biggest design flaw? It's an interesting obsession is what I'm getting at. There's so much more that's actually worth whining about. |

Although, both Raph and Mikey have full on primate-like noses and not nose slits like Leo and Don as turtles do have.
I hope that's toned down in final product, but seeing the 12 inch Raph and Mikey action figures, I think they are staying. |

Are any of these actors even famous enough to justify having the Turtles' faces resemble them so much? I can't recall seeing any of them in anything, or even hearing of them, really.

The guy playing Mikey was Toad in X-Men Evolution, totally famous enough.
Don't most actors have a face time requirement in their contract, like so many superhero movies the hero loses his mask so we can see the actors face. Maybe it's something like that, although. I see very little of the actors in the turtles faces. |

Raph's actor was in Blue Mountain State and the 2nd Hunger Games flick.

That said, I know Kevin Eastman played at least a slight role. I'd be interested to know how much he was involved. He certainly seems to be more interested in taking creative risks than Peter Laird was. I hope, in the end, the risk pays off. Personally, I'm not feeling this movie at all.

Can I go on record as saying I really liked The Rock, The Island, and Pain and Gain and the more I see of the designs the less I like them?

Honestly, a "meh" should go in the bad category since there's isn't a third option.
Personally if something looks "meh", it's worse then bad. At least bad invokes something in you then just going whatever. |

I love it that some jackass implies people only hates on the designs because of the people working on the movie.
How can I hate Jonathan Liebesman, when my only experience with him is back in early 2000's with the Chainsaw Massacre remake, which I barely remember cause I fell asleep by it. I never fall asleep watching movies, this one... I did. The only thing I know about Wrath of the Titans is that the first movie had the Kraken mixed with Greek mythology. |

Just a few random thoughts. Feel free to disregard...
I was thinking about this thread last night while watching a couple episodes with my son and I just need to say that I'm a little surprised, and saddened, that there are so many turtle-verses out there and yet people feel the need to really hate on this new one.
Yep, that's how I'm looking at the movie: a totally different turtle-verse. I think that, in order to go into it with an open mind, that's really the only way you can do it. Much like how I treated the Spider-Man movies (hated with a passion), X-Men (liked the first two, not a big fan of the rest), Transformers (I liked Beast Wars as a kid, so I guess I can't have much of an opinion there), and Planet of the Apes (REALLY had to look at that as another artist's take, but it was delicious!). Ya'll can laugh at me if you want, but I feel the different 'verses need to be treated the same way as if we ran into ourselves from a different 'verse: with compassion and understanding that different events bring about different traits in the same being.
