Surely no one counts subtitles either in movies or toys, right?

It's not a big deal or worth complaining about but it's yet another sign (albeit a small one) that this movie is being made in such a haphazard way. It's just a mess.

Exactly. That's all it is. Poor management.

I dont get that though they are two nearly identical titles done in the exact same style, nearly identical how can that be considered haphazard in any way ???

Because the "teenage mutant" looks like it's been put in as an afterthought.

It's as if someone reminded them the movie has been re-titled at the last minute and they just added it in to a logo they already which is strange because the title was changed a while ago.

Either that or they had a lot of lead time but they were too lazy to come up with a new logo so just added in a small "teenage mutant" to pre-existing Ninja Turtles logo which doesn't look "right" now.

The fact that some merchandise has the altered and some hasn't is strange and why aren't they using the new logo they've been using on the set of the actual movie which to its credit look like it was it was designed to incorporate the full title?

In and of themselves these aren't issues normally worth commenting on but it representative of a movie were titles change and major plot elements are being thought up while on the set and no one involved that publicly comments can reach a consensus on what kind of movie this is.

More subtle evidence of the general "I don't care" attitude of the studio, apparently.

That doesn't counter my points of why they simply added the other part in a manner which the logo was never designed for or why some merchandise has the altered logo and some don't or why they are not using the (better) one that the movie seems to using.

Also the logos you posted just hit the eye better. Think of the word "turtles" in this context as a punchline to a joke or an unexpected twist at the end of a sentence. That's why the word always dwarfs the others in the logo. It just works.

If it's just Ninja Turtles then the Playmates original logo works fine. There is less build up so the word "ninja" can be almost as big as the word "turtles" but they've hastily added in the extra part of the title in a manner which you can almost hear them saying.....oh yeah they're also kinda also mutants and teenagers again"

I wish there was a forth option. The "I really don't give a sh!t either way" option.

Agreed. I think the TMNT brand has been around long enough to be recognized either way, and the Teenage Mutant part was only tacked back on as damage control from the whole "aliens" thing. In the end, as long as they still are in fact teenage mutants, I don't care if they include those words in the title.

Well, I mean they are trained ninjas.. Teenagers or not, self discipline and control is kind of an essential part of being a ninja. They did still have their "teenage" moments too though.

The posters are supposed to be part of the merchandise presentation and they differ from what's on the boxes in the sense the don't have that clumsy adjustment.

Also where are you getting the idea that the movie was going to be called "Ninja Turtles" just to simplify things. Pretty sure the main reason that was the title of the movie was that because they weren't mutants in this version until they buckled to fan/studio pressure to change that element.

P.S. To end this stupid merry go round and explain the math. Yes we signed on two years ago to Turtles, but with no deal in place. Deal completed towards end of last year. And yes, thats how long deals sometimes take. So no work was done on the script. Blame Paramount, not us for the first draft.

They care VERY MUCH about making this film for the fans. Everyone on this team cares about the fans. Just give them a chance. Jonathan the director, is a major fan of the whole franchise.
