That's not true at all. Ask anyone on this forum who watched the OT and they can tell you exactly what Bebop and Rocksteady looked like as humans. I don't believe for a second anyone here can't describe their human forms or remember what they look like in their mind.

Wondering if we'll be seeing Rocksteady and Bebop this season after all. I'd like to think so. Seems rather interesting that they'd pop up on Playmates' site right now. Hoping we at least see their premutated forms in Newtralized.

I've seen the OT and I Remember what Bebop and Rocksteady looked like as humans.

However I don't think you need to worry about Bebop being African American.
I mean he was in the OT, he was in the IDW, so there is no reason for that trend to stop.

Ciro is familiar with the OT so obviously he is going to have Bebop and Rocksteady resemble a modernized version of who they were in the OT both as humans and as Mutants.

In the OT Bebop was one of the few major characters that was not Caucasian

And if by chance they don't make Bebop African American, does that truly make him less of a character. He is going to be the same bumbling Hench-mu
tant that he always was in the OT no matter what nationality he hails from.

Expressing that TMNT would suck because such and such person who was a certain ethnicity in another Incarnation. It's like saying the Hobbit movie sucks because they only used one of the songs that were in the books and none of the others.

The Beebop and Rock steady designs arent my favorite but maybe Ill learn to like them when I actually see them in motion. I really curious as to why Beebop has what I think are gold bars infused into is hands. With there look being released this early I wonder if they'll appear at the end of this season at least in human form.

They have a sort of techno organic vibe on their skin with the neon lines on Bebop and the golden armor growing out of Rocksteady's hide.

It's funny, because before victory_angel posted that screenshot, I'd forgotten Bebop was black in the old cartoon.

I mean, I KNOW what they both look like. I can remember their human versions. I remember the mutations of them both vividly. I've even seen the series again very recently. But it wasn't until Bebop's race suddenly became a massive deal in the last few pages of this thread, that I went, "Oh yeah... he's black."

And I'd never stopped to even consider it before.

Because I've never really cared to notice the race of any of the characters in a cartoon. It was simply not a big deal. Not as a child, not as an adult. If the character is great, they're great. I don't care if they're Swedish, Malay, Argentinian.

Maybe it's different if you are from, what we call in the UK, an ethnic minority. I don't know what the balance is like in the states, and yes, due to immigration, and in certain cities, in the UK we now have a wide mix of cultures and ethnicities. But I'm in the belief we are still a majority white nation. When I was growing up, in my senior school there was about about 100 students in my year and a only 1 in 10 had some form of Asian or black descent. That's including mixed race students.

As a white person, I try not to let the media affect how I perceive someone in terms of race, be they fictional or real.

James Avery voiced Shredder. Barry Gordon voiced Bebop. We could make a deal out of that but we're not going to because they did their jobs perfectly.

If Bebop is black, he's black. If he isn't, well so what. We have an African American, several Asians, I believe Xever might be Brazilian, in this series.

In fact if you take background characters like generic blonde lady, and those that have been mutated, out of the equation, we currently only have three white characters: Casey, Irma, April.

There is a perfectly adequate balance here.

Not seeing race and "color blindness" makes it easier to ignore that some are more privileged then other only based on their race, or their appearance. Personally I think it would be for the better that Bebop stayed black like he is in FW/Archie and IDW

Could also be that the images wasn't final design, they didn't share the same pictures or design from the UK toy fair. Time will tell.
