Bebop and Rocksteady from the new Show

Man, I was really dreading these characters to appear but with this new take on them with so personality and style, I'm want to see them again. I just hope that they stay interesting in future episodes.

They reused Bradford's armor as Chrome Dome for goodness sakes. They had Spiderbitez human form in the background of the Pizzaface episode. They reused Ick's cat model as a stray alley cat in a different episode.

There is no way this guy is Rocksteady. I severely doubt they want Rocksteady to speak in a Russian accent.

The general has the same ice-blue eye colour, has a gold tooth, and gold spiked shoulder pads and brass knuckles. The leaked Rocksteady art also shows him with all of those details. So it's pretty much a guarantee.

It's a shame he's now some Eastern European Russian General instead of a white street punk. This is the only time I would approve of whitewashing with his accent being removed after being mutation.

Rocksteady speaking like a Russian militia leader doesn't sit well with me.

As one of those "older fans" that's been following the series since season 1 aired in '87, I must say you are very much overreacting. Yes, I have a sentimental attachment to B & R. I used to roleplay as them in Kindergarten with my friends. We loved those guys. I'm sure you can relate, Cubed.

Now you have Nick coming along, taking old characters and giving them a new twist - and it definitely has a lot of potential. Bebop looks like his old human form more-or-less, but his personality is much different. And Rocksteady... during the (Brief) time we see him in his human form in the OT, he is a big, blond white dude and shows himself to be a leader (He appears to lead the gang when they confront April).

So really, those traits did carry over, and all they really did is make him older and Russian. He wears those gold knuckles, so it's pretty plausible that he got his start leading a gang (Or Russian mafia) and later became powerful through arms dealing. Who's to say that the OT Rocksteady wouldn't have gotten into organized crime later in life, had he not been employed and mutated by Shredder? That seems to be Nick's thought pattern here - older versions of B & R who have moved on from simple gangs and gotten into more serious stuff, and only know each other through some job that was done in the past - and what's wrong with that? It's basically the same as how they're using younger versions of April, Casey and Irma, and tweaked them to suit the show.

Personally, I love the Fred Wolf show for what it is, and I love the Nick show for what it is. Both are awesome and unique in their own ways and interpretations of the franchise's character. Instead of being upset that Nick isn't carbon-copying everything, just enjoy both the old and the new for what they are - or drop what you don't like and leave it alone for others to enjoy.

OT Bebop and Rocksteady were interesting.

I still feel that in the beginning, they weren't so bad. They were mutated, but as a result they were clumsier and slower, but also really strong. The turtles did have a time fighting them in the season 1 eps then later on they made them really dumb...although they had their moments where they said something smart or significant. I love how Bebop wanted to talk about his view on world affairs in that Zipp or either Grybxx ep when April was stalling for time by interviewing him.

In all honesty, though, the thing I loved about the two was Berry and Cam's voicing of them.

Wonder about who'll be Rocksteady. It better not be that Russian general, it should be someone else.

I bet they'll get captured by Shredder's mutant henchmen in some episode and get mutated by them with some remaining mutagen as a consequence for challenging them. And they'll be forced to serve Shredder forever.

And perhaps they'll learn some advanced ninjutsu from Shredder, Tiger Claw, Rahzar & Fishface.

The new episode today pretty much confirmed that Steranko is going to be this series version of Rocksteady. I say bring it on, he's a cool character.

Or Bishop (if it happens) and don't have him mutate. We should have some more mutants demutated. In a few months, I think New York is going to have nothing but mutants.

I for one like the idea of Russian Rocksteady. In the old cartoon he had a thuggish New Yorker voice and while that was fun, I think he'll sound great with a gruff Russian accent.

I'm also curious how JB Smooth will sound as post-Mutation Bebop. His voice fits Anton as a human great but I'd imagine a warthog man would sound a bit different just as Clancy Brown sounds different voicing Rahzar than he did as a human. Though Xever's voice didn't change much if at all when he became a fish.

I also like the idea that Bebop and Rocksteady aren't just a couple of street thugs. Zeck being a cyberpunk thief and the other guy being a militaristic brawler offers a different fighting style than Xever, Bradford or Tiger Claw.

It is a bit of a shame the human versions of these characters don't get much screen time but creatures make better toys and creatures, robots and vehicles are where this show is going to continue to remind us it is intended to sell toys.

I wonder if he'll also become more of a fighter after mutating. Anton was a thief, not a fighter and he relied on all his tricks and gimmicks to get by. He was pretty much defenseless once his suit powered down.

Anton will have to learn about fighting more once he becomes Bebop unless he gets to keep some of the tech gear with him along with his mutation. Still, it's going to be interesting to see where this goes.

If you are truly 'saddened' by simple name changes to the HUMAN forms of Bebop & Rocksteady then it baffles me how you are able to watch this show in general without getting depressed...
