It's a bean-counting executive's dream come true! I just personally dislike what that represents. But this feels shadier, more manipulative in a way, if that makes sense? It's not simply fans reacting to the content - it's making them work for it in the first place. It makes doing the promotion the customer's job, on top of actually paying the corporation for the product they promoted for them, and... eesh. I worry about where that's leading, y'know?

But... I admittedly have very strong feelings about this sort of thing.

have you ever seen the show MAD MEN - its craziness; but it opened my eyes to what happens behind the scenes (not the personal affairs, but to the types of conversations executives have behind closed doors pertaining to product placements, and how to best utilizie their consumer base). I know its fiction, but just listening to a lot of what they say, and seeing how advertisements today work, its really eye-opening, and like you said...a little scary.

but call me a lemming, but I have to agree with others here, because its a property i love, it hardly seems like work, and im almost enjoying the process - BUT...I WILL SORELY DISAPPOINTED IF THIS TURNS OUT TO BE TRAILER 3...like throw a tantrum like my two-year old upset. if that happens - then ill happily admit BRY that I got duped. but i hope it doesnt happen.

I thought this might be trailer 3, since they've been having the bootlegs pulled, but the site says "new exclusive trailer." If they unlock a trailer that's already airing in theaters, that would be an outright lie.

There isn't a problem with the type of marketing. This is actually a clever idea to build up hype. One problem though: they've released two trailers already that were almost exactly the same, and their viral marketing consists of nothing but stock art. Also, how many official images of the turtles have been released? One or two? Every other shot of this film I've seen has Megan Fox. Any turtles pictures are just magazine scans or something. All that kind of kills the hype a little (and by a little I mean a lot).

Combine that with the fact that the film comes out in less than two months and they're pulling this stunt just now... man. Someone dropped the ball. If this was something they wanted to do, they should have had this Twitter thing started in, like, March, around when the first trailer was released. That'd give people time to realize that there's a TMNT movie coming.

The loudest voice about this movie is the negative one, and now people learning about the new movie go onto the internet, see sites like this where lots of people are screaming about how terrible it'll be, and assume since we're TMNT fans we must know what we're talking about. And subsequently don't waste time with the movie.

See, if they had done this Twitter thing months earlier, before trailer 1 came out, then the film would trend on Twitter and would have pumped people up a lot more. First impressions are important, and if they'd seen that first trailer while TMNT was "trending" on Twitter, they'd have still been relatively excited for it. What actually happened was people probably stumbled on it by accident and said, "Meh."

And it's probably going to be Trailer 3 guys.

Ok, made a 6th Twitter account because I'm pretty much out of my mind, but they've each got six votes from me now.

(And if anyone ever hates on me for being a "hater" of the part that bugs me, I will bodily throw them into this thread to wallow in their dislike of my opinion. So there.)

It's barely anything right now. Leo, Raph and Mikey are pretty much the same but Mikey is just barely in first, with Raph in second and Leo in third. Donnie is in last place as usual.
