Dude. The Shredder get-up made them the shredder. Its annoying to see the same damn costume throught the majority of the series, regardless of who's in the suit or what changes they made to the same suit.

except Karai did take over the Shredder persona, with a personalized costume and all. And had the show continued there where Shredder wars which we saw in the beginning of BttS.

We had normal shredder. Karai shredder. Demon shredder. Cyber shredder. The whole tribunal looked like 4 or 5 multi colored shredders. I get it. Shredder is cool. You don't need to overdo it.


When I said Karai was never shredder I meant the mirage Karai. It was a disguise to trick the foot for one night.

The 2k3 Karai did take over as shredder for a while.

Even the Theme song said so, as we see karai in her own Shredder suit saying "watch out for Shredder" after Ch'rell was banished.

I'd watch the hell out of that. And the 2014 Shredder totally does look like the 2K3 Shredder. We don't need glasses to see that.

2k3 series was forgettable to me. I watched it for a while when I was 10 and then later on when I was 12/13 but I remember having to force myself to watch it sometimes just because it was turtles and I felt guilty not watching it

I would have enjoyed it a lot more. Once you go for a PG-13 iteration of 2K3, you're basically just doing the Mirage series. Only major difference would probably be Michelangelo remaining a complete dip****.

They do hint that something similar to what Sacks/Shredder tried to do happened in the past, so it is possible that they're going with the "Shredder is actually ancient" idea which originates from the 2003 cartoon.

What if it had actually been based on the story of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
? A lot of people say "well they've been in a lot of different incarnations, and yeah, they have, BUT the core story of Splinter and Shredders past was always there (as far as I know anyway) and that's what let me down the most with this movie.. it made it all feel kinda pointless.

Seems like the cartoon went over your head then, especially since you were a kid. Everyone who was 17-19 when it originally aired thought it was amazing.

I do think there's some superficial similarities to the 2003 show but that's about as far as it goes.

It's no surprise that Leibesman says he didn't look at other versions beyond the 80s show but rather looked at various images to see the other versions as well as deviant art based on them.

I wouldn't be surprised if the writers just skimmed through wiki entries and justified a lot of their decisions since they had some minor basis on the show. Like "see Shredder doesn't have to be Oroku Saki, there were other Shredders in that show" or "hey he's wearing cyber armor in this image from the show so it's cool if we made it like ultra cyber armor" etc.

If they actually properly looked at the show and took the best aspects from it then I think it would the basis for a great movie that could please a large amount of people. As it stands I don't have much faith that anyone involved is willing to even consider that and even if they did if they could pull it off.

I wonder if Liebesman chose to not look further than the 80's show, or was he ordered by a higher up? It seems like since the franchise got bought out by Nick, someone in power is doing their best to sweep as much 2k3 influence/ideals/and anything else underneath the rug.

I'm down with utrom shredder in the sequel if for no other reason that to finally get a damn utrom in a movie. Secret of the Ooze would have been about 100% better if Perry was revealed as an utrom as supposedly planned. Then they can kill him and have Karai take over in the third one or whatever.

You know what could have made this one better? If they had Bishop and MIBs instead of Sacks/mechaShredder/tacticool foot clan.

I still can't believe, with as long as the TMNT have been around, the government agencies going after them so they can study them hasn't been a more bigger picture. Everyone loves conspiracy stories, why not make one with the TMNT?

The animation in the original cartoon was probably the best of its era, ignoring the worst animated episodes.

I have no strong opinion one way or the other of the overall quality of the show, unlike a certain someone in relation to its succesor. I'm just a little annoyed that it's the most popular and well-known version, when it's really in the middle of the franchise's overall range of quality.
