A break in the live action portion, cut away to animation type thing, like they've done in KILL BILL, and HARRY POTTER?

The kappa thing is an interesting idea but I'm not really sure what to make of it. I just can't see where it fits. I suppose it could just be a story splinter made up to inspire the turtles in their future battles with shredder but It would be a pretty big red herring if that's the case. Not to mention it could be seen as a superficial way to create a tie to japan and I don't see that going over well at all. If it does have anything to do with the story then it brings up so many questions. Liebsman talked about the old origin being complicated but I don't see any way you connect the tmnt to supernatural creatures of japanese folklore simply.

Agreed. I can see it working alright as a story Splinter made up for his sons, but the scroll art makes me think it's meant to connect to the scroll in the background of the "that's what we were trying to do, create heroes" scene from the first trailer, which would suggest that the ooze experiments were actually intended to create modern Kappa. If that's the case, it's going to take such an awkward messing around with both the Kappa mythos and TMNT origin in order to make it work, it's going to be a really weird and stupid departure. I'm going to be extremely unhappy if that turns out to be the case.

I'm really liking all the links to Japan this movie has. It might not be enough for some people, but even at this point it's more than I had dared to hope for. This animation is great and I hope it does appear in the film.

Exactly what I was thinking. I really liked the animated clips in both those films. If it is in I doubt it'll be any longer than what we've already seen, but you never know. Hope it's there though.
