Would this show be better if it was binge watch?

If you can tolerate a lot of Kraang plots and "mutant of the week" villains, then yes. Binge watch it. If not, then don't. Like many others, those are my only problems with the show.

Well, to be honest, I don't watch the show for the plots, I watch the show for the interactions between the Turtles and some of the humans they have on here. Granted though, this in itself is tough, because the show seems to be scared if it doesn't have action in for too long, like, 3 minutes tops.

I found him annoying, but didn't have an actual prob with him looking back because he was intentionally written to be annoying.

I still don't get how people found Zach annoying when you have characters like Timothy around.

Probably because he was in 2 too many episodes. He should have been just a one episode kind of character.

I don't want to turn this into a conversation about Timothy. I guess that's getting off the thread subject but I just overall don't understand the point of his character. The few episodes he was in (even while binge watching) were pretty lame to sit through.

ONly one I liked was his first one, but only because I just thought it was good character development to see Donnie training someone and interacting with others besides his brothers and April.

Showed off Donnie's compassionate side despite being completely annoyed with him and jump started Donnie's wanting to work on retromutagen.

Anyway yeah, the show would be more enjoyable if it was binged watched on first viewing. But then that applies to practically everything. This 'weekly episode' thing is becoming pretty primitive and I hope that in thirty years everything follows the Netflix model. But I doubt it.

^This. Lots of shows I could never get into, until Netflix, when I could sit down and watch episode to episode, uninterrupted. This was especially helpful when watching a show like 24, in which the episodes and story arcs are super interlinked, and you could miss or forget something if you had to wait between hiatus and season premieres.

Yeah, it's just a bit outdated now. I know people like the 'watercooler' effect, but it's just too difficult to become engrossed in a show when you have to wait a week between episodes (or longer in the case of this show).

I suppose counter-arguments would be that we'd have longer to wait in between seasons, and that the gap between seasons would replicate the problem of the gap between weekly episodes in a single season, but it would still be more preferable to what happens now.

Technically we could just watch shows which are already completed/well into their run, and let new shows build up over a few seasons before watching - but who's likely to do that when a fresh new exciting show comes along? Nobody really has the patience to let it build up, and it's a shame because I feel I'd have enjoyed shows like OUAT and American Horror Story even more if I could have watched seasons over a day or two.

The only problem I have with Timothy is his voice actor. If Roger Craig Smith didn't voice EVERY SINGLE recurring character in Regular Show, I wouldn't mind him, because I wouldn't be so damn sick of hearing him. He certainly has the voice for it, but he's overdone, if you ask me.

Yeah, it probably would dilute the quality of shows, at least in the short term as it became the default setup. And the reasons you allude to are why I said I doubt it will ever happen - they need to the money from commercials and marketing to keep the show going. Netflix can do it due to subscription fees but we're obviously not going to pay multiple fees to multiple companies just for the ability to binge watch.

I don't mind waiting a week between episodes. Guess I'm old-fashioned. The only reason I binge watched the Nick series was because I could and because I was so far behind.

The only thing I would dislike is inconsistent airings or long breaks. Like with live action shows, it airs for it's 20 something weeks, a few breaks and a long summer break. Doesn't bother me as I can theorize and look forward to the upcoming season. Wish animated shows did the same, but I only say this because of the inconsistency of the breaks.

I suppose it's just the opportunity to have the choice of whether to watch weekly or all in one go. That's what appeals.

Yeah, the breaks in between eps for this show have been wildly inconsistent. It's distracting.

Edit: I still haven't seen the last four eps of season 2. I will over the next coupla nights.

It depends on the patience. I was an avid Lost fan, but then, I was just getting frustrated because it seemed like it was 3 minutes of show, then 5 minutes of commercial, and nothing seemed to move the plot along, so, i just gave up. If you don't move that plot substantially, or let key character developments kick in, the show starts to get stale, stagnant somewhat.

It just the pacing feels too fast for a moment of introspection. It's like there would be a big revelation and we before we could get to a character's reaction...it cuts to black.
