It's an amazing book! The next one (Wizard and Glass) is my favourite in the series though.

Just finished Stephen King's Pet Sematary (read it years ago then the copy went missing, picked this up at an outdoor market for 30p or so) and am now starting Imajica by Clive Barker.

Thinking about starting reading "Inverting the Pyramid" by Jonathan Wilson. It's a book about soccer tactics. I bought the electronic version so might fire up my tablet after the weekend.

I also have an Open University book about celebrity culture to read. I didn't study the course the book is part of, but the senior faculty member sent me a copy as I'd mentioned I have a big interest in why people become so obsessed with famous people, living their lives vicariously through them. I can't relate to that and wish to develop my understanding of why people develop these obsessions. Obviously I know most of the reasons why but the book surely expands on things.

I've read that a couple of years ago. Pretty good and easy read. Another sci-fi dystopian novel I liked a lot was 1984.

I read the first volume of Jack of Fables last night. Pretty good. I have read almost all of the main series of Fables and enjoyed it so it's good to read some of the other stuff.

Re-reading Rose Madder by Stephen King because I'm obsessed with it.

Just finished Divergent, bit underwhelmed tbh. I'm told it gets much better as it progresses through the other two books so I might give those a go next. The first book felt a bit too plot-holed to me but it could be due to it being a trilogy.

Hey PD, I love that one, especially the Dark Tower references. I've always loathed physically and verbally abusive people, so it's always fun to see Norman get what's coming to him.

Currently reading The Demonata series. I flew threw the first seven books in around two weeks. I read Star Wars: A New Dawn with fiancee. I thought it was alright but wish there had been a lightsaber duel in that one. Also reading Children Of Cthulhu which is an anthology. Almost forgot the Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir miniseries my fiancee got me for an anniversary gift. She read issue 1 to me this weekend. We hope to finish them this week at some point. I'm loving it so far.

I really like the Divergent series, though I was a bit disappointed in the third book. I think what really got to me in that one was how Roth switched the POV between Tobias and Tris rather than just sticking with Tris like in the other two books. Sometimes, I'd be reading and I'd forget who was talking, and I have to go back to the chapter to remind myself who's POV it was. So that was one thing I really didn't like about Allegiant. But I still advise you to give them a shot and see if you like them. Why do you feel it was plot-holed though?

Oh definitely - I take an inappropriate amount of delight in Norman's comeuppance.

I'm currently re-reading a book called Broken Wings by L-J Baker, which is a lesbian romance set in a fantasy world. It's actually really good, and I'd definitely recommend it; I'll post the synopsis here in case anybody wants to check it out (under the spoiler so those who aren't interested don't have to read it).

Starting a new university course on imperialism and empires so been getting a head start with the first book. Also read 36 issues of Brubaker's run on Captain America earlier tonight (volume 5). Really good.

Since we're just outside of October, my better half and I started Skeleton Crew last weekend. I usually try not to read any horror novels in Oct, but rather focus on short stories. Although I've been tempted to revisit some of those old Goosebumps titles I never got the chance to read as a kid. Doubt I'd find them scary at all but might be fun.

The Hellbound Hearts anthology. Set in the same universe as Clive Barker's Hellbound Heart, which was the novel that inspired the Hellraiser films. The Cenobites are just as horrifying. Although I can't help but crave mini cinnamon rolls when hearing that word. Most of these short stories have been pretty stomach churning, but it's October, so I'm loving it.
