Can you think of ANY animal that does not have one of some form or another? Even hermaphroditic creatures, or those that spontaneously change sex, still will. Honestly, I don't know of a single animal species that the male doesn't have some kind of seminal delivery organ (ie, a penis or whatever other term it might be called depending on the species in question). Even insects have a tube that comes out and is inserted to fertilize the female. So what animals are you referring to? It may not always be called such, but is still pretty much the same thing.

Edit: Can someone link those? They don't show up on my screen.

Well, only 3% of bird species possess a penis. And most fish don't have a penis, as they usually fertilize eggs already laid. Fish that fertilize eggs internally have a Gonopodium, which can be referred as a penis in layman terms.

@ Candy Kappa:

As far as I'm aware, ALL male birds have some sort of "penis", even though most are very different from a mammalian one. Ducks especially are a bit bizarre in configuration, but still have an organ used for insemination, which is essentially all a "penis" is, no matter the species. Anatomically, ALL male animals have a similar set of reproductive organs- testes, seminal tubes, and "delivery" organ. (And yes, even fish have an organ that often protrudes slightly during fertilization. I know because I spent YEARS trying to breed bettas as well as several species of cichlids, mollies, guppies, swordtails, gouramis, angelfish, and even tetras.) On the rare occasions I was able to watch any of them actually mating, the males had a tiny tube that jutted slightly from their lower abdomen- it's usually white. This is what would be considered the "penis" on a mammal. Isn't used QUITE the same way, but it's still there, and serves the same function!

Also, that story link was quite interesting, and perhaps a bit enlightening on a purely scientific and conjectural basis. I kind of feel sorry for those poor guys. Guess that story in Mirage about Mikey possibly being a daddy isn't true.

Well it's not they can never feel arousal, it's just that they don't have same erroneous zones like we do so of course they're not ( as Don put it) "biologically wired to kissing".

As far I know, both turtles and humans are into neck biting.

Which could- in theory, at least- make things even more fun!! Ha, I kid. Though the notion of Mikey nibbling Angel's neck (or April, Irma, Kala, or whomever) is rather amusing..... However, it WOULD pose certain problems when nibbling OTHER areas....

Not to be off to be topic but having long claws is a part of turtles' sexual dimorphism? Yes?

I'd assume that since they've never had claws in any of the media, they keep them trimmed, or simply don't grow them. Which would be a blessing for any females they were with!! (Yee-ouch!! :teek )

Unless the female is another turtle ,otherwise, they look androgynous as David Bowie.

But they usually have human nails? So it could be worse I guess, they could be painting them.

(Granted this is 2014 and my brother-in-law currently has alternating orange and black toenails for Halloween. The Turtles could sport their own colors well in this day and age. lol)

Honestly, I could only see Mikey doing that- Raph's too "macho", Leo wouldn't bother, and Donnie- well, he might, but I just don't see him having any interest in doing so.

There is this essay called "Men of Steel, Women of Kleenex" that goes into the difficulties of Superman being with Lois Lane. The science isn't very encouraging on cross species relationships, but that doesn't take into account what a fictional creature represents. Not being able to have kids characterizes Goliath and Elisa's relationship in a way that doesn't with Lois and Clark. In some continuities, they had children even, which tells me that Superman simply represents a human from a different culture.

That essay kinda doesn't apply since it goes more into Superman's super strength and not so much that he's alien. The turtles (and Goliath) don't have super strength and wouldn't bash the girls to bits upon coutis.

During concept drawing, the Turtles was apparently supposed to have claws, retractable claws, but it never got out of the concept phase. But it does look like that the turtles usually lack claws/nails in Mirage, and it seems like they also don't have nails in FW, 2k3, Nick and the Imagi movie.

In the live-action movies they have nails, and I'm sure some artists depict them with nails as well.

And for the neck biting part, that's usually a one-way street for Terrapins/Sliders, as a way for the male to forcefully making the female compliant, if the display of manly long nails isn't good enough, he will be using more direct tactics and bit the female in the neck, or throat and soemtimes in the hind legs where she can't bite back, to display dominance. It's no sexy foreplay as their bit tears through the females skin.
