I enjoyed this episode for the racing theme as I love racing games a lot, although the car modification got really wacky with all the glowing Kraang tech installed, and using a mutagenic egg laid by a brainy chicken as Nitro fuel?
![]() Loved all the humor they put in too, "so... your co-pilot is a chicken?" Overall I enjoyed the entire Season 3 so far, in fact, I especially liked the episode that some of you surprisingly didn't - A Foot Too Big - it is the one I rewatched the most! The one I rewatched the least is Buried Secrets mainly because it's too scary and gross. Though it's nice that the Kraang ship in the basement isn't forgotten and was shown again in this latest ep. Quote:
Ironically the only mutant so far who can "run out" of mutagen is Mutagen Man. Or maybe he only run out because he consume too much of it for energy while stomping the city, that the mutagen couldn't regenerate fast enough to recover the rapid energy drain. Go figure

I thought Northampton was in Massachusetts? Is this version a Northampton in NY state? Or is Northampton the name of the house/property? Or was that name never really in this series...now I can't even remember. lol

It always was/is as far as I know, but in this version they're using the NY Northhampon. I guess they wanna keep them closer to home (Granted if it's upstate, realistically, it could actually be even farther than MA!).

Meh. Only good part was the Raph/April moment at the end. I won't be watching this episode ever again.

I can't believe people are failing to enjoy a really funny, character-driven, bizarre and out-there episode because they're too busy worrying about the mechanics of a fictional alien magic-mutating chemical. I don't give a damn if it's in continuity for a car to mutate or not, who cares so long as the results are entertaining?

Ugh.
The animation and music were top knotch this episode. Everything else...a mutated car? Really? More love triangle fighting? What happened to Raph and Casey? I was watching this episode with my eight year old nephew. Halfway through he got up and left. I forced myself to finish the episode. I'm bored.

I enjoyed the episode because of the early Mirage Studio references.
I think the mutant car idea is taken from the Winter 1992 issue of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Magazine where Motorhead and his army of mutant cars are gonna take over the world. I think the turtles also meet Garfield in that issue. I wonder if Motorhead himself will make an appearance in the future? Mutant Donnie is probably based on a Steve Lavigne portfolio piece of a Rat Fink type turtle and maybe the ghost of Von Clutch in Tales of the TMNT 15? Fun episode although I wish we could see more of what’s happening back in NY City. |

I just had a thought and it may explain how a car can mutate, sort of. Mutagen changes biological things such as animated creatures or plant life. Gasoline is a fossil fuel, which is a remnant of ancient life, so theoretically mutagen could change fuel or anything else based on petroleum products and in the end mutate a car by way of the fuel. Maybe.
But the house is all fixed up now even though it was damaged in The Croaking. It's nitpicky, but still. |

I didn't see much of this one, but I wanted to leave a comment because I did catch the demon Donatello. Did that design happen to be inspired by the plant from Little Shop of Horrors? Or was it just a coincidence? |

I really enjoyed this episode a lot. Casey was being reckless, but at least he and Donnie worked together and he even saved Donnie and realized what a jerk he's been. It was nice to see April call both boys out on their fighting and tell them to stop, so good for her on that. Loved the alphabet game and the brainy chicken and the name Mikey gave her. Demon Donnie was awesome and Rob knocked it out of the park. But the best part was Leo taking out the car himself. That was great and it made me happy that Leo finally was able to do something after being on the sidelines and only fighting when he had to. Overall, a pretty neat episode. Too bad there's a hiatus, but whatever.

What the freak did I just watch? This was worse than the clip show from the Legend of Korra I just watched the other day, at least I got a few laughs out of that one.
If we are going to keep getting episodes like these the rest of season three maybe I'll wait till they get back to New York to continue. Honestly it's a shame, in the 2003 series it was one of my favorite arcs |

Um...I'm not sure what to think about this episode.
It was funny, I'll give it that. And I hope Donnie and Casey stay friendly from now on. The love triangle might be bearable now because what I hate most about it is Casey and Donnie constantly at each other's throats. I also liked the alphabet insult game. Also, I thought April was really well done in this episode. She has a great, kind, independent, and determined personality but it only comes across in some of the episodes. But everything else...meh. I'm not hating the episode because it mutated a car, I just didn't enjoy it. What was with the chicken? It mutates and they are like "Oh no. Mikey...Darn you. Hey, let's use this chicken in our car!"

I thought the episode was alright, I didn't enjoy it as much as the other episodes as I thought the story was weak but I did like the animation, the music and I liked the car chase and racing scenes. Rob Paulsen did an awesome job voicing Speed Demon Donnie.
I am a bit unsure on the movie references here, I'm assuming they used Fast and Furious, Greece and Christine. Casey has road rage issues. The mini van crashes into a tree, proves that it is important to be wearing your seat belt. Mikey loves his cartoon. April giving Donnie a neck rub and Casey is going insane over it. The A -Z insults was funny. The Speed Demon driver is freaky. Lol little old lady driving and is unaware whats happening. Yikes!!! Mikey nearly touched that mutagen. Lol, there was a chicken in the clutch. Casey and Donnie bonding while they are working on the car together. Was Casey and Donnie drinking those disgusting energy drinks. Mikey has his straw hat on again. Chicken mutated into a smart chicken, it's a bit freaky seeing its enlarged brain. Dr Cluckingsworth MD, lol Mikey. Good enough tyres is a reference to Good Year tyres. Lol the mutated chicken lays mutagen radioactive eggs. Speak and Spell computer in Casey's car, I had one of those. I'm guessing the chicken navigating system is a reference to Kit from Knightrider. The first guy who was posessed by Speed Demon looks like Elvis. Oh my god!!! Donnie becoming Speed Demon is freaky. Donnie's Bo Staff is used as a gear stick. Yikes!!! Donnie got spark plugs coming out of his shell. Dead Mans curve!!!!! Loved the car race scene. Lol the mutated chicken's egg is used as a speed boost. The speed boost reminded me of Men in Black, when they pressed the button for speed. April hugging Raph was great, I'm glad they are interacting more. I wonder whats going to happen to the mutated chicken, is Donnie going to keep it for a pet or maybe chicken is going to have an important role in changing mutated New York back to normal.

In the episode, the chicken lays eggs of mutagen that fuels the car. Is it the same mutagen the Kraang have? Can it be used to make retro-mutagen to cure Kirby O'Neil and Timothy? The turtles would never have to worry about securing anymore.

May or may not be the same mutagen. This particular vial was harvested by the frogs and most likely came from what mom-thing was littering over the woods, which came from... the Kraang ship in the basement? If so it could be as old as the mutagen that mutated the turtles themselves, though its properties could have changed over time especially after being contaminated by the water/oil and other impurities from the woods and the people/creatures/car (!) handling it at different times.
