Nah there's been other contexts, I'm sure of it. Modern Splinter don't take no sh*t.

There's also in context of training, he never went for a lethal move on his sons, unlike PD Splinter.

He tried to kill his sons in the movie? I must've missed it.

I meant son. Bt since you mention it. He did do the sword swinging so close to the turtles in the flashback scenes he could have seriously injuried them. As a member of TSKSR I can tell you that Splinter is a terrible teacher for doing that.

(I was kidding btw) and yes the sword-swinging was hilariously close in proximity. Goes to show them a simple demonstration/winds up decapitating them instead

Well, he did the randori thing after they snuck out while they were supposed to be grounded, but that's a ninja thing and something I could see him doing. But the only time he really attacked them was when he was under mind control and the second time it happened, he pretty much told Leo that if he lost control, he had permission to kill him if that's what it took.

yeah, that scene reminds me of a few instances with the Katana I ahve been told about.

My instructor's husband told us during a training session on how he got a big scar on his knee. Basically, when he did performance show for an audience, he never pointed the sword at the audience, cause accidents may happen, and it's a bit rude/cheeky to point swords at people.So instead he put the sword down, edge pointing at him. One time, he did it while sitting on one knee, and as he stood up, the sword got a bit of motion and tapped on his knee, cutting through his hakama and his pants and cut through his skin and into the knee cap. he had to be rushed to the hospital and had to get his knee sewn up.

Another story was from my instructor, when she was a part of a big show in Japan, there as several swordsmen performing onstage. The guy in-front of her had a lovely white silk kimono. Suddenly mid-half of the show, his left side of the kimono was completely red. He had pierced his shoulder with the sword without noticing it.

It' some pretty terrifying stories that puts the sharpness of the blade into perspective.

haha, I got another one, but it's not gory

When our instructor came with her old sword for us to try during training session, since when we train we use Boken (wodden swords) or when doing Iaijutsu we use (those who owns them) Iaito (dull swords). So it was the first time most of us weld a proper sharp sword.

after we got to do a few swings with it, I noticed the blade was sliding out of the handle. the mekugi was missing, a wooden peg that holds the blade in place inside the handle. So, with enough swings, that blade could have been tossed out and hit someone.

naturally we laughed it off and continued our regular training. :lol;

Yeah, Fox & Arnett's acting aside, it's a great concept. They'll be plenty of it in the sequel though I'm sure.

"We're gonna terrorize people with this poison, and only WE have the cure, so you all better bow down! Bwa-ha-haaa!" "Yeah? We got tanks, asshole. Thanks for broadcasting where you friggin' live." Forget the Turtles, they wouldn't even be necessary to exist in this universe. Their plan couldn't have worked. Ever.

It's just too much of a reach, for me. That plan is the sh*ts. Granted, that's because it wasn't the plan they were supposed to have when they wrote the movie, but still.

Hey, I never said it would have WORKED (because as you said there's still the government to deal with) but I thought it was pretty ballsy of him to come out with a veiled allusion to what he had been planning for YEARS as a seemingly inspirational "pledge" to, well, SAVE THE CITY FROM EVIL!!! And get a lot richer doing it. Shredder must have been so proud of him behaving in such a classic villain manner. I would have thought they'd try to do something more covert and clever, but I guess they figure the government is just a joke these days anyway..... (JK.)

Has anyone received their pre- order poster from b&n.com. I didn't get mine and now their customer service says that there was no poster for pre-ordering the DVD. I am not happy at all.
