Ugh, that's tricky. I don't understand people with no sense of boundaries and I can't imagine just walking into someone's house like that. Sounds like she has some weird presumptions about how "close" you are. And when someone's that oblivious, I know how hard it can be to set boundaries without having to be rude.

If it's becoming this frustrating, maybe start locking your door at all times? And tell her you've taken on some personal projects and don't have time to chat as often or have unannounced visitors. That's worked for me before (and it helps if you actually do have personal projects).

Yep, I've been there, and it's not cool. I also hate getting canker sores because of chips, too.

The lazy slobs who deliver packages to my house, but don't bother attempting delivery and instead put sh*t in my mailbox or on my door indicating a missed delivery and run away.

Do your f*cking job.

Had one yesterday and I'm still feeling crapped out from it today. Stupid weak mooshy human body.

Yes! They're terrible about that around here as well. They shoved my Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir four issue miniseries in the mailbox. They were pretty bent. Good thing I was just planning on having the comics read to me rather than keeping them bagged and boarded. They cram DVDs in the mailbox as well. I love it when amazon actually puts DVDs in cardboard boxes so sometimes they put those on the doorstep.

Got those in my neck of the woods too. I've even seen them come up on the porch, stick a note on the door, ring the bell, & literally run back to their truck.

When you try to help someone out, only to have them completely blow you off. I'm sorry, but if you seem miserable, I'm going to ask what I can do to help.

A bigger one: Watching people who used to be exceptionally nice, awesome human beings turn into ****ing asshats. It happens far too often.

I had this problem all the time at my last place. I was on the second level of a house and the mailbox was at the bottom of the stairs outside. A whole bunch of days I'd have the day off work and would be expecting a package, so I'd be working on something in the living room all day, which had a huge window right beside the door. If anyone came to the door I couldn't have missed them. And every time I found a missed delivery notice in the mailbox. How much time are they shaving off their day with that little tactic?

But since I moved in with my now-wife in a different neighbourhood I've had excellent delivery people. So at least there's that.

For me, local USPS guy, scarily enough. This one sort of delivers the mail when he feels like it sometimes. He's been known to come around about 9ish at night. My neighbors and I exchange mail sometimes because he delivers our stuff to them and vice versa. So far, nothing's come up broken, so that's something to be thankful for. If I order action figures, they usually come in packages too big to fit in the mailbox. Vehicles too. At least he can't trash those. Now I have to find the nearest wooden surface to knock on.

That's crazy - I mean, what's the point? They're still walking to your door anyway - how is any extra effort involved with them actually giving you the package?

Lately my mailman has taken to leaving our packages in the garage instead of bringing them to the door - we're lucky that nothing's been stolen yet.

...right!? Wow, excellent point. What are they saving, like a minute, max? Are these guys just doing it out of misplaced spite, or something?

Going from what I'm seeing on here, it seems like there's an epidemic of those.

Suuuuucks. Actually broke the skin a couple times.

I hate having to make collection calls for the gym. "Yeah, so my access card hasn't been working for like three months..." Did you recently change credit card information? "Yes, actually, about three months ago..." Were you paying your dues with your original card? "Yes... huh... should we have notified you that we switched credit cards?" No, guy, we're going to conduct the transaction through goddamn ESP, because we magically know your new billing information without you ever having told us. "So that's why I've been locked out of the gym?" You're getting warm, bud. "I guess I owe you some money, huh?" Yeah, it's come to that. It's actually cheaper to buy six more months up front, and use that to back-pay the three you missed, because it's cheaper than the penalties. "I'll let you know next time we change cards." Boy, I wish you'd come to this epiphany sooner and saved us both the headache.

I mean, I'm good with people. But man. You pay bills on plastic, when you switch cards you call everybody. That's like, duh. And then they just wanna chalk it all up to a mistake and a lesson learned and try not to pay their bills. I don't see a dime of that money or anything, I just think it's irresponsible on principle.

People who don't just speak their minds. I am all about keeping it real, voicing my thoughts, brutal honesty, etc. It doesn't make me everyone's favorite person, but the people who are in my circle respect me for it, & follow suit. You get what you give, typically. But some folks don't wanna reciprocate & just bottle their sh*t up, while you're there trying to have an open discussion. If there is a problem, don't you wanna get rid of said problem? Well, sitting on it isn't going to to change anything, & neither will lying/sugarcoating/etc. I can't know what you're thinking, I'm not psychic. & frankly, I've got enough of my own problems to be sitting here wasting my time tryna make sense of yours. So either do me the courtesy of spitting it out so we can move past it, or just leave me the hell alone.

From a manager's view, I can tell you, it's the business aspect of it. If you've ever taken a statistics class, you'll know that they've used statistics to determine the possible loss vs. the amount of costs. Businesses create set-schedules and each dept is allocated a certain amount of time to do each tasks. It's a way to maintain accountability and predictability. So, if they don't finish the task(s) within a certain amount of time, they will lose more money than the cost of your package. This is why they ask for a declaration of the value of packages. One reason is to determine if it's cost effective to wait for you at the door vs the risk of your stuff being stolen and its cost.

Basically, they've determined that it's cheaper to take a chance on your stuff getting stolen and paying you what it's insured for, than running behind their set-scheduled time, to finish the task of delivering everyone's packages, for the day.

I used to be someone who held my tongue a lot, but as I've gotten older I realize that I get farther in life just speaking my opinion. I get a lot of respect for it in my life.

Hasn't won me too many friends around here though. I think everyone preferred the Katie that ignored misinformation that gets posted and kept her opinions to herself. It says something about Internet interactions I guess.

When corrupt employees of an entertainment company, despite never releasing a DVD of said movie/TV show, streaming it online, nor appearing on any TV channel, remove a video from an online video sharing site. Last night, I discovered that Warner Bros. gave my YouTube account a copyright strike for uploading an episode (in less than broadcast quality for that matter) of The Hogan Family, which is plain ridicuolous because not only it denies the chance for those who grew up with the show to see it again, it also prevents support from both sides (viewers and the companies) to have a chance at any hopes of a DVD release, which is a darn shame given the technology these days! I decided to create an additional channel as a result of this so I could still upload longer videos while a precious six months of my life I'll never get back passes. At least Nick was right to pull the 4kids episodes when they reran, though it does show that tape trading is still important towards aquiring old TV shows. I've done three tape trades so far, a couple of them resulting in original broadcasts of TMNT OT episodes, and I have two more episodes from Season 6 that I found on Betamax tapes (though one has poor audio). It doesn't make sense after the Supreme Court in 1984 voted 5-4 that it is permissible to record on a VCR since video sharing sites are basically just an advanced form of technology to share with other friends!
