Then why don't they make a Human Karai? Or accurate VQ Turtles?

They said they would make Human Karai if that crappy Snake version sells. Regarding the colored VQ turtles I have no idea why they did that. I hope they will re release them with the right colors.

I wish another toy coy could do accurate VQ turtles with those flags. While I have stuck strictly to non variants in my tmnt collection (other than the battle shells) I would be 100% tempted if we have show accurate versions. A unique concept that moves away from the kid variants.

Is there any way playmates can lose that license? Or at least can any other coy get the license to make tmnt action figures?

I don't think so Playmates has had the turtles license since the 80's. I was gonna get the VQ turtles but since they aren't show accurate I won't. I also want the flags with them besides show accuracy.

Is there a reason toy companies don't produce show accurate figures? Do they want to have their own take at the character or are there other issues such as copyrights? It is frustrating but if there is a real reason why, then it may make me a little less agitated.
Two main reasons exist, one they just want them to be different enough so the parents are more likely to buy them all and not say "it's the same toy you already have, why do you want more?" The other reason is simply because when they received the designs to start working on the sculpts they where in color so they used that, then the show changed it for some reason and it would be to late to change it back, that's the reason why the first basic turtles of the Nick series have differences compared with the ones on the show, specially the feet.

But yeah, probably the first reason lol

None of that is true. The designs were done with grey copic markers, they weren't in color at all. So if anything, Playmates had to wing it & come up with their own color schemes.

& the reason the original figures look different is because they created 2 sets- 1 that was show accurate, & 1 that was unique, to be a callback to how the original toy series didn't necessarily reflect the show itself but rather was a new spin on it. We got what we got because Ciro was given the choice to pick between the two & he preferred the more detailed alternate versions...

Yeah. I am concerned about the Mystic Turtles themselves. So far, I have noticed most of their wrist and foot bandages don't seem painted. I wish to know what these figures look like out of the packages. If they have less paint, I'll be disappointed. I enjoyed Vision Quest so much, it would be heartbreaking not to purchase them. If so, I still might buy them. I don't customize my figures in fear of looking ungrateful or making the toy companies look bad, but if they do not have much, I will have my brother improve them, and he is great at customizing.

These figures must be in store soon . Also, a push behind many of the earlier releases, in the new packaging.
I have seen DogPound, FishFace, Shredder 2, Cockroach, MetalHead so far. Each would have been improved further if it were the character on the card, but it is the four Turtles in the upper RHS of the card. Still, a good chance to catch up on earlier figures that you might have missed.
Damnit playmates! Even LESS aps?

My least favorite part of the mystic turtles is whatever is supposed to be around Raph's neck. It just looks strange to me, and is a more glaring change from the show versions than the changes in color.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to do all white versions?

Yeah, they're pretty disappointing...I plan on giving them custom paint jobs!

Oh never realized you where there and saw the actual designs they received...

Of course they where in color, they had to know what parts had what colors, or you'll end up with early Vegeta designs... (for those that don't know the first time Vegeta appeared on the TV show he was never designed in color yet so they made up his colors) Do you really think they'll give them B&W sheets of paper and tell them "here, make toys based on this"???

And don't know what episode you guys saw, but the one I saw they had their colors on the new costumes, they where not as bright as the ones on the figures but they where not white, well Raph is, but the others clearly had the exact same colors as the figures, only a lot more washed out, almost white but not completely.

The outfits were white in the show

You're the customer, they should be catering to you. Settling for less guarantees more of the same.

Ok. Here's the one a lot of people want to see.
Karai.

It's a neat figure. Head size is perfect for a custom if you want to build human Karai.
For me , I still like Baxterfly.

The head here is good. I'd prefer better body paint apps, but I'm ok with it .

dude... The VQ figures do not look all that appealing anymore, crappy paint apps and less articulation then the basics.

You forgot to post Karai DVD. Her human head looks good. Serpent sculpt is pretty good, but the paint obviously... the paint, as usual. Still baffled that this is the Karai they are giving us... why does it even come with a human head again? Maybe I slept through it but does Karai actually use her human head on her snake body at any point?

I don't know. I just can't get excited about these figures anymore. I thought Bebop and Rocksteady were really bad figures. These don't look any better.

What we need is a company to take adult figures seriously. Revoltech gave us some really cool turtles, but we need them to make more characters.

Haha. Yes. I copied the wrong link!!
I sorted it now.
I should have got two of these so I could build the serpent version.
Still, I think its a nice looking figure and I reckon it'll please everyone who is after Karai.
