But yeah, probably the first reason lol
Not to be disrespectful but your first reason makes absolutely no sense at all. How does a show accurate figure make parents feel that way? You can't be talking about the whitish/grayish attire being the same on all figures either because you believe that the figures' colors correspond with the VQ turtles according to your following post. The mask colors, accessories and overall outfit look would differentiate these figures enough to not have a consumer feel that they are buying the same figure four times.

This.

On another note, Baxter looks like garbage...I was really looking forward to this figure back when they released the promo pic.

It's a neat figure. Head size is perfect for a custom if you want to build human Karai.
For me , I still like Baxterfly.

The head here is good. I'd prefer better body paint apps, but I'm ok with it .
I just realized he has no paint on his mustache along eith no paint on his teeth. I'm going to have to customize him he looks like absolute crap.

Ok first of all I was talking about generally, not this reason in particular, it's not unheard for a toy company to change stuff if they think it will sell better.

Second I take it you never saw my second post on the colors so here it is:

Leo's Bluish outfit, just compare his blue hood with his white hand straps: http://nick.mtvnimages.com/nick/vide...xdimension=600
Those are not white, you'll have to be color blind or have your TV/monitor's setting way off to not see they all have their colors other then Raph that yeah, uses all white almost on everywhere (he even has a red tint on his wrists straps), but Leo's hood is bluish, almost white but you can still see the blue, especially that last photo I posted, it's clear as day, his hand straps are white, his hood is not, Don is purple, it's really faint but not as much as Leo, you can clearly see a purple tint on his hood. And Mikey... yeah, you have to be blind to say he's white, his mask is clearly orange...

I agree, the color differences are pretty easy to spot. You can tell that each turtle has a slight tint of their respective color. And if someone here can miss it then yeah it makes sense why they were each colored differently. You're assuming that all parents take interest in what their kids watch and that's just not the case most of the time. If they were colored correctly the average parent would look at it and say they're all dressed in white, costumes are similar so why do you need more than one.

I take them as they are.
The retail market is aimed at 4 year olds, which I am not - far from it!!
They are toys that could be improved with better paint apps. That said, the detailing in the actual sculpts is quite incredible at times.
If I were to compare these latest figures with the ones from the past, you would get get both plusses and minuses I think.
My first thoughts of RockSteady were that he was very basic, but actually, the figure is pretty good, and the texturing on the skin isn't that bad.
I like the latest four Turtles as released, and I think they look OK on the wall.
I am happy enough with those figures for their price point.
I will even get the Head Droppin' Turtles

I envy your patience. I actually like Karai, sort of. Baxter is a big disappontment for me. The spirit quest turtles look weird in the paint catagory.

Im easily pleased

Actually, I do take these for what they are, and like them for it. I find them charming and fun.
My Hot Toys figures need to be awesome or I am not interested, but they do tend to be pretty awesome. My Batman and Robin figures are photo-realistic. Also, my BC Doctor Who figures have to be at the top of their game. Im expecting the First Doctor figure to be shipped next week - very excited about that.

I agree, there is usually a lot of detail packed into the sculpt, and I an not afraid to get the paints after the figures. My biggest complaint with the toys remains scale. I can paint a figure to fix those problems, while I'd like a bit more articulation, that doesn't really bother me, and once again if I cared that much, adding basic articulated isn't that terrible. scale though, on like characters such as Leatherhead bothers me. I can't upscale a figure. I really wish they would conduct a deluxe scale for larger characters like Spyder Bites, Slash or Leatherhead for example, mark them up an extra couple dollars if need be (instead of 8 dollars, maybe 10). Otherwise I really have no issues with the Playmates figures.

One example that I always see with complaints were the newer movie figures, the missing paint apps being a key point, but honestly after adding the appro paints, the aesthetics blend well with a lot of the McFarlane figures, there is actually a ton of detail packed into their sculpts.

Plus it hurts my feelings a lot less when I mess up on a custom using an 8 dollar figure, versus a 20 or more dollar collector targeted figure.

I started to say that too, but then I realized that was my love for the new packaging speaking. Even that backer is lame compared to the second one used for the 2k3 series but it's notches above the ones from 1994. Karai is better than the Baxter Stockman, but not by much. On a side note, Karai almost looks like she belongs more to the 2k3 series than the Nickelodeon one. I bet she would look nice on the shelf with Quarry and Baxter Robot. She would fit right in.

My opinions can be harsh and critical when it comes to merch a lot of times, because I know they could do much better but don't in order to cut costs. And worse, sometimes even despite the cost cutting to keep the figures "cheap" they still seem overpriced for what you are getting.

But I still buy a lot of the stuff they put out, because there are no alternatives. If I want a Nick Baxter Fly I really only have one choice, right? So that's how I do.

They are better than nothing, I give them that.

But I don't like the argument that "sculpt is good I just need to get it repainted" MOST of us do not have that kind of time, talent or resources (people to paint them for you for free or at a fair/low cost). So we'll be stuck with the retail versions which are just not impressive in any sense.

Oh well!

First off, I clearly stated that their masks were colored when I said they could be differentiated by those colors. Yes, there may be a slight tint of color in their wrist straps and knee pads but they aren't brightly colored like the figures.

I understand these figures are geared more towards kids and that is why I always bit the bullet and bought them because they were the only options out there. However, I've grown a bit frustrated as this line has gone on because there are details missing that even kids could be disappointed with (like why Baxter's teeth aren't painted).

I know, I pointed that out, but everyone is complaining that they should have been all white when that's as wrong as them being painted like they are right now, it would still not be show accurate, in fact it would be worse because they do have their colors, they are not white, they're just not that bright.

As the toy company responsible for the TMNT franchise, I also think they should be giving us more. The last comics version turtles and this last wave is a shame. I ca understand than only few figures like the upcoing classic Krang robot with super size and lights will show up, but for basic figure like Playmates gives too less.

I have friends that could customize some figures for me, but I can't ask them to rewamp EVERY figure I get, and if I want to keep them in their box the least I want is them to look great.

Playmates isn't making that super huge Krang with android body that is a 3rd party seller

That was the Shredder version, right?

I think the best standard Karai figure we've gotten is the TMNT movie version - the only one that just represents the character without some kind of gimmick. Kinda regret not buying that one.

Though if Playmates would produce a human Karai figure for the Nick series I'd definitely buy it. And I haven't bothered with the line since wave one.
